What a fantastic bit of kit. Any chance you can fill up my wife's car.. it's always low.... Ta for popping in the stream tonight means a lot.. stay safe mate
Ask a fire dept about u have. Fumes will ignite. Look at boats with blowers. 30 gallons of gas in yr garage attached to your house. Just sayin. Also yr insurance will look badly at this. Store gas outside in a shed.
I have about 5 gas cans on the floor of my detached garage. The idea is to make the garage safer, and get rid of the gas cans. To fill it up I wheel it onto my truck lift gate and strap onto the back rack on the truck and get it filled up. I now use a 2.5 gallon jug for filling mowers and the like. The hand crank requires no power so it could be moved outdoors if I make a cover for the vent hole.
A lot of cars hold 20 to 30 gallons of gas, can you fill your truck and then reverse pump it into the 30gal. container, because that would be nice, saves moving it around. Oh and people park their cars in garages all the time, most have gasoline in them , it seems safe enough. Most garages have everything but cars in them. Very nice 👍
After watching about half the video I was watching with my son and said boy he is going to wish he had a remote and electric pump once the gas starts to overfill what your filing. On a side note you do have some God given talent at coming up with ideas for creating stuff for us home DIY'ers. Also, note he has right by a window so it can be vented if needed, Keep up the videos, you and Mustie are my two favorite for watching creative creations from what you have or found or purchased inexpensively. ;) Also on a side note gas weighs less than 7 lbs a gallon. This sounds crazy but I was thinking a hinged or moveable set of wheels for the front/back or both.
Excellent idea and build. I probably would turn it around to store and when I needed gas just pull it out and use it. Might help keep the kids out of it as well. Hopefully they don't hang on it and tip it over on themselves. Great job. Rinse it out and put it in your man cave and fill with favorite beverage.
I’ve been thinking of doing something similar with my gasoline. I’m just wondering how you have made out with your gasoline storage DIY. Is there anything you would do different? Besides move the wheels to the front and do you see any potential dangers because I’ve noticed you made this video about three years ago and You have had time to see any problems.
That's a nice little set up but it's against the law to fill that up at a gas station because it's not an "approved container" but you couldn't get it out of the truck if it was full anyway without a gantry or something. Thats more than 240 lbs. Just the gas weighs that, add in the wheels and the pump and hose and tank your probably just over 300 lbs. As long as you keep it at your house you should be fine. Just fill it up with the gas cans. Your project turned out nice. You're right though you should move the wheels and handle to the front.
Not trying to be a wise guy... if you turn the pump handle 180 degrees, doesn’t the back become the front? If the tank handle interferes, can it be bent down some?
@ Jeremy Anthony : I use an outboard motor gear oil pump, with some clear hose from the home center. About 10 $$ for the pump. Use it also for oil pumping.
Looks like the pump is made from plastic. Made in China? I would add 2 wheels on the front then you don’t need to tip it when full if you ever move it.
