DIY Glitter Mermaid Tail - Poseable Doll Tutorial 

At certain parts when you were assembling it, it clicked with me what the glittery latex looked like, my dad used to fish a lot and he had these super pretty silicone glitter lures! I used to love playing with them, except for the part where I inevitably got poked with the hook.

I love the fire colors! It makes me think she's a volcanic mermaid. The latex looks so good.

Thanks for the lovely tutorial, one of my Lagoona dolls in my stock box has a broken leg on one side so this is a great fix up to her body

there are fire mermaids but they use whats called "Greek fire" its green and can burn anything above or under water

I love videos like these!! I would always try to make my folks into mermaids with fabric, so this is REALLY satisfying to watch! It also reminds me of the movie "Splash"!

She is amazing - I love the colours and design. I now need to source latex.... I was wondering if there is any way to make it removable (I am assuming that tail will stick like anything to the doll and it will get damaged on removal and be almost impossible to "slide" onto a new doll - are these assumptions correct?) Maybe wraping her in kitchen film or a condom or something before attaching the tail? Maybe even a large balloon or something??? Please let me know your thoughts - a crative brain is needed for a creative solution :)

could the glitter be sealed in with modge podge instead of latex or would that make the tail less flexible?

I tried doing the kitchen film and tape technique to make a dress pattern, but when I cut the pattern, layers of kitchen film kept pealing off, so much so that the pattern was close to unusable. Any advice to fix this?

Does the latex stay tacky? I have two cats (one with long hair) and I'd be worried about the tail (or wings) picking up hair.

My daughter and I are really excited by this project and I am looking into the latex right now. It looks as if a lot of it is sold for Halloween costume makeup effects...is this the right stuff? So looking forward to the repaint! I agree with the others who said that a dragon look would be really cool for her.
