Hi guys! In today's video we're making this koi fish inspired glitter mermaid tail :D I used a Monster high doll, but you could use a Barbie or any other doll of your choice ^^ This tail is flexible/poseable since it is made with latex and has a fish scale effect because of the glitter. Stay tuned for the full doll repaint coming soon :D
Materials:
Doll of your choice
Kitchen film
Tape
Paper
Plastic bags
Latex
Acrylic paint
Glitter
Shimmer /mica powder
Talkum powder

I normally dont like how tails look on dolls, and how they are bulky but, this looks bomb af🔥It has a great shape, good color pattern, and good sized fins (not giant and flimsy)

You should do a ceasg! You probably don’t know what that is but It’s a mermaid from Scottish mythology, with basic traits like the upper Body of a woman and the lower half of a fish, accept that the lower half is That of a salmon fish. They were known to grant three wishes to the person Of their capture, and were known to also fall in love with humans and even Marry them. But eventually they would become bored and their love of the Ocean would force them to return no matter what....

I'd love to see a silicone tail from you. I see a lot of latex tails from crafters on RU-vid. I have a severe respiratory allergy to latex.

Wow.. this is really realistic! I love this one! It's really obviously a Koi Carp... excellent job! I love the tails that you do and I too think this is probably my favourite too!. The magic of timelapse xDD Heck, when I saw that tail I was blown away bc it looks so pretty and the glitters are a great idea - but yeah, whoa, to attach each of these tiny glitter pieces by HAND- that's borderline madness omg. I love that you marked where the orange was so the connection between the front and back panels looks seamless! This looks so beautiful! I love the individual glitters, but I doubt I would have the patience for that, so props to you! I assume this tail is permanent? I wonder how to make a removable tail so it could be kind of like human vs mermaid, like Ariel or in H2O!

Hi, I have had a go at these tails but i think I have the wrong latex! Can you help me by telling me which brand/thickness you use? Mine just pools and pools and takes ages to spread! Then a very long time to dry! Your help would be much appreciated, the mermaids themselves I am making for my children. Many Thanks, Emma x

You can always modify it to make it come on and off easily. For exemple by using really stretchy fabric or velcro.

Could you not use modpodge for sealing in the scales? I know it's pretty flexible, so it might work whilst keeping the scales clear and not discoloured.
