This panel can put out close to 100 watts ru-vid.comUgkxOqI2yqX0XVrhR2BMJciTWrHJpG8FhJyg when positioned in the appropriate southernly direction, tilted to the optimal angle for your latitude/date, and connected to a higher capacity device than a 500. The built in kickstand angle is a fixed at 50 degrees. Up to 20% more power can be output by selecting the actual date and latitude optimal angle.The 500 will only input 3.5A maximum at 18 volts for 63 watts. Some of the excess power from the panel can be fed into a USB battery bank, charged directly from the panel while also charging a 500. This will allow you to harvest as much as 63 + 15 = 78 watts.If this panel is used to charge a larger device, such as the power station, then its full output potential can be realized.

You can do it. Look at home depot for equipment rental. I used their one man ground hog auger. It kicked my butt, lots of shale, lots of clay. Probably the hardest ground I have ever seen. I did 4 10 inch piers with 14 inch footings. Figure out your soil type and weight psf it can handle of you are designing your own thing. As I calculated based on 12 inch footings...4 piers a re good for 6k pounds. All materials and panels, I still have 3k pounds head space. Just take your time, plan it out and execute! Good luck!

Excellent installation… almost as if you are a pro? I’ve been building these systems for years and I think the Hollander/snap n rack grounds mounts are the best. I’ve only had to do a repair once and it was the customers second array that was angled very steeply to get better sun in the winter and high winds from behind had pulled some of the supports loose…. The set screws were only hand tightened apparently so I replaced them with Tec screws and added extra for good measure, no problems since then

To DIY this solar system installation, we need to have mechanical and electrical knowledge, otherwise we can't make this done. I planning to install a solar system on my new house roof top, the mechanical is not a problem for me but I need more knowledge and details of solar system wiring such as wiring diagram, settings & etc. I'm from Malaysia btw. Thanks for sharing!

Thanks Scott. I will check out solar wholesale for some mount systems tonight. I am leaning towards a ground mount like this one you did. How long of a grounding rod did you use? I'm thinking no need to buy a 200-300' ground cable if I can do that too. Thanks for sharing

Great job building your system. I'm at the beginning of mine with SolarWholesale. I've got my kit and I'm at the point where I am , planning out the cuts. The SnapNRack configurator gave me my amount of pipe and amount of cement. But no matter how I plan out my cuts it doesn't seem to be enough. Did you come up with that spreadsheet yourself? or did you get it from SnapNrack? Also when you did cuts did you have some pieces (besides the horizontal pipes) where you needed to couple them?

No these are not bi-facial panels. I have heard they only give you around 3% of what the panel is and that's at optimal conditions. With that, in my opinion, I think they will never be worth the money.

If you go through Solar Wholesale. You need buy the pipe, concrete, conduit and depending how far it is the wire from the panels to the main power.
@p5makersplace
@p5makersplace Год назад
Good vid. Question : why not run the solar panel individual wires in to a external weatherproof box at panel site to then run a much larger cable back to the generator. This is dc power, which suffers anyway from voltage drop, so wondering what type of voltage you got at the generator. Just wonder if it would make sense to run all cables to a weatherproof box, then something like a #2 or # 4 to the generator.
@scottssolutions3849
@scottssolutions3849 Год назад
Since this is DC, and each PV input has a X amount of total voltage and amperage. You cannot combine all the panels together to run two wires. The voltage drop was already calculated for the wire size. He used the lion energy 8 kW inverter combo with two battery packs equaling 27 kWh.

@@scottssolutions3849 Thanks for the response. I think i'm still head-scratching a little . I have been involved in the electrical trade for a long time, so of course that makes solar even more interesting. Those individual pannel fees end up somewhere (i'll guess inside the house in a solar controller) , where they will get ganged anyway. i have set up about 8 150 watt panels on a storage unit that powered inside fans/lights. All leads were ganged, then on to the controller with larger wire sized for the va of the load. In that example , no issues. If i am setting up a field 150' or more from the controller, i can't see running each panel feed that far. Additionally, as long as they are wired in parralel and not in series, nothing changes, just more available va. So, still want to study this a little to see what ends up being my best option. Thanks - good vid.

I'm not 100% sure on PV generation but having that separate rod seems unsafe. You aren't bonded with the rest of the electrical system. I would think ideally you'd have both the rod and the wire back to your inverter. If there's a fault in your system there's no path to trip a breaker.
