This simple and uber lightweight hammock suspension is pretty easy to make and use. The cord is 2.2mm SK75 12-braid dyneema cord. You can find this on eBay and lots of places online.

But you can make your own from any suitable webbing material. You don't need to sew a loop in the ends, you can tie a water knot - www.animatedknots.com/water-knot
With the knots, each cord ends up about 10 feet long. With 4' straps, that's a total length of 28' for less than 2 ounces. 58 grams on my scale. If you don't expect to ever hang between trees 30' apart, you can make these shorter and save even more weight!
