+Chris Samurai I've never heard of adjusting a float. The float stops the flow of gas when the bowl is full. Adjustments are made with the 3 screws and changing jets.

The height of the float level must be in the manufacture specs. If the float is too low, too much gas sneaks into the carburetor. Therefore, you have to adjust it. My shadow spirit 1100 is 9.2mm. Most of shadow with dual carbs have 9.2mm for the float level.

Mazarita village, would that 9.2 be good for a 750 2001?

+Matthew Hamlin yes replace the pilot jets and give everything a good cleaning with carb cleaner and you should be good. Next time leave the bike run, shut the gas off and let it die. This will dry the carbs out and if it sits it will be OK.

+Matthew Hamlin I just bought the jets from a local cycle shop at $8 a piece, they are common and usually in stock. Unless you need to replace everything which is unlikely you will spend well over $100 for a kit. That being said I'm pretty sure Amazon has them for the lowest price.

The filter sometimes gets stuck in there, you have to get it out before you can put in the new one. Many techs also just discard the new filter on the end of the float valve because they are rarely need and if it is ever clogged, it requires a full carb tear down to address it. If you have an inline fuel filter then that should be enough.

I know this is an old comment, but inn case there are new readers, The float level must be set to 7mm on the vt750, there are plenty of youtube videos out there on how to do this.
