Good video, i come back to some of your videos like this at times before doing total spray jobs on fiberglass kit cars and respray jobs. We do a lot of the same things and use a lot of the same tools. I am still using the blue Porphis prd-715 you sold me there early spring this year. I love it for clear. That Devilbiss DV1-C Clear gun doesn't even come out of its box anymore since you got that gun to me.
Fantastic job Pharraway as you mentioned your videos are shorter than some but you include what's needed to show us how it's done, great content my friend you are very talented and skilled at what you do 👏👍 It was great to see you join us over at Tony's Refinishing last night on his premier and live chat 🤗 I hope you will pop in again when you can as it's people like you that help people like me to learn this interesting trade or for me a hobby 👏👏👍 John UK.
Thank you farraway for the tutorial on the block sanding well explained 1 question the cut through after using etch primer do you need to sand it smooth before base I always use a 800 so I dont cut through again thank you for sharing and I'm glad we met Lucy the dog
Thank you Mr. Pharraway. I got driver side of my Elco blocked. I got a few low spots. Minor. I figure one more attempt and finish the gallon of primer, n block one more time should be good. Thats for the minor low. If i run into a really low spot I can swipe a skim coat of glaze on it right? I dont wana go to bare metal right?
What do you think regarding wet on wet apposed to painting over dried primer. Mechanical vs chemical adhesion. If I get an orange peal in the primer it will show in the top coat, so sandinding the primer for mechanical adhesion would be the only way to go in order to cut back on orange peel in the top coat. Hope that made sence. Thanks.
I'm still blocking mine. But I didn't know it was OK to use a DA with the finer grits...I've been doing it all by hand and block. Is there a store chain that sells the interface pads?
Looks good. I have a question you said that when you have cut throughs to metal you use metal etching primer. What do use if you have cut throughs to some filler?
@@PHARRAWAY Hi love your videos I have a lot of friends here in Australia that watch your channel I also have a question if I rub through to the original top coat do I need to prime those areas again I’m hoping not as I’ve rubbed through in a fair few places I think I was being a bit to heavy handed with the DA 👍🏻😊
Good information brother. One question please. I just bought a Ingersoll Rand 315 G straight sander and I would like to know if I can use it with 220 &320 instead of a DA. Or do you think it’s more of a peeping tool and not final stage sanding? Thank you and God bless you.
So what was the primer om the car?? Was it epoxy or polyester? That's the problem with all the guys posting these how to videos, they never start FROM THE BEGINNING!!
