Like others, do you need to repeat the process on the oposite side? My doorway i am blocking up is a foor from lounge to kitchen? Great video. Very helpful. I also managed yo fit my own bathroom cushion floor after watching your video. 👍🤗
Thanks for the idea I'll be closing off a doorway on my exterior door and will close it off. I'm deleting front doors and making the side of my home the main entry. Cheers from Alabama USA
This is great & this may sound like a daft question but what about the opposite side? I assume you would repeat the process but may have to build out towards the edge of the wall on the opposite side? I.e the frame may not be as thick as the whole doorway so it may need additional wood. Looks simple enough though, as i'm moving soon and plan to block a door to make use of the space :)
It's not a daft question. I followed this vid to block a doorway to a cupboard under my stairs and it turned out great. But I did end up with a recess on the side under the stairs which didn't really bother me due to where it is and is now shelving in that space, but it did make me wonder how she would have addressed the other side.
@@_Damian_. i ended up doing it in the end, and like you I had more recess. So I added wood to bring the plaster boards out further and then just repeated it on the other side.
One criticism, when framing, you dont use screws. As a house moves and shifts over time those subtle changes apply lateral force to the framing hardware in walls, floors, and ceilings. Screws shear off from that force while nails bend. This is why you always see contractors use nails when framing.
How much room/space shall we allow for plasterboard to expand and contract? (I'm referring about the gap either between plasterboards or between a plasterboard and the rest of the wall.) Many thanks!
Great video! How long would that project take (without video, commentary, etc....just straight up work time)? Assuming you already have all of the supplies and tools.
Very Good... But plasterboard and wood don't hit back!.... Before people start commenting... Great work woman now with that plasterboard you put up, do you need to put undercoat bond plaster???
@Chris Sanford that's definitely incorrect. & why would you even attempt to put a sheet what would you screw it to hang also it the studs are there to support the large piece of drywall without them it would fall down or break in half if you bumped into it to hard.
Now maybe I'm missing something but my genitals have never granted me DIY knowledge. The only difference is that society expects guys to know this stuff so sometimes we'll pretend we do (and then come and find a youtube how to video).
The insulation isn't necessary between walls inside a house but might help for noise SLIGHTLY. The side braces are totally unecessary and not needed. 2 of them are fine at different heights. Building codes are different in the united states but that's how we'd do thing here. Much simpler. Good instructions though on how to line up the drywall. but.. A HAND SAW??? are you KIDDING ME?
She can pick up double the amount of girls that you can dream of and she need no man around the house... so, what are you bringing to the plate, to be her trophy-husband? I mean, clearly she would be in charge of everything.. star captain in the rugby team, tv star and builder.. Philippa Tuttiett is just amazing!
@@LegendaryWoke did you read properly? I said why SHE would want YOU, never even implied any interest from me, ewww, no thanks! Don't give me nightmares! 😂 So, don't flatter yourself, no one here saw you as a prize, dude! 😂
