This video shows you how to heat your home using wasted heat. See our follow-up video: • Cut Your Electric Bill...
*DISCLAIMER: This should only be done with an electric dryer. A gas dryer will release toxic carbon monoxide into your home.
The humidity level in your home should be 55 to 60 percent. If your humidity in the winter months is lower then that then the lint bucket will help to bring that humidity level up. If where you live the humidity is already higher then 60 percent in the winter months then this bucket will not work for you.
There has never been any MOLD issue since people have been using this type of lint bucket since the 1980's.

Thank you for this video! Instead of the orange lid, I went with the removable black lid so I wouldn't have to cut off tabs. Also, instead of self-tapping screws, I went with 10-32 flat head screws with nuts on the other side to tighten. I discovered the dryer dock you show in the video isn't available at Home Depot; they have a cheap one that bends when you tighten the clip on it, and it doesn't snap firmly into place. I ordered the one you have in this video from Amazon. Another thing I did differently is I cut a piece of aluminum window screen material and closed it inside the lid, to catch any wayward lint that might not make it down to the water. I fill the bucket about 3/4 full with water, rather than half. I think the closer it is to the top, the less likely any floating lint can escape it. One final tip: ask a donut shop for a bucket. They have empty buckets they might give you.

This is also work very well; no, extremely well for growing large amounts of black mold. My wife and I suffered from good health until we installed this red neck heater, but mow between the headaches and Namonia, it's totally worth the investment. Next I think I'm going to install a wood stove seeing as how the tire shop down the road has an endless supply of tires for me to burn. The btu rating is 10x that of regular firewood. Love sticking it to the man. Thanks for the helpful informative video!

If you add a tablespoon full of a Lemon dish soap, it will break the surface tension of the water, have better lint absorption, and the air will smell nice. If you notice the smell isn’t as lemony, then it’s probably time for a water change. This also helps chase off mosquitoes.

I have the little box which diverts the moist hot air into my basement . Humidity levels in the house are on the low side during cold weather . The furnace dries the inside air and the moist dryer vent helps put moisture back into the house . I clean that small screen filter after every drying cycle . Your idea seems to be a step up from what I'm using .Thanks for your video !

At our old house we didn’t have a place to hook up the dryer vent so it would go out the wall. We put a piece of pantry hose on the pipe and just cleaned it out every few cycles so it didn’t stop up. It was kinda like keeping the vent filter clean.

i bet your air quality was pretty bad down there regardless. ive done the same in my house for 10 years now and have no mildew problem but i know my house has a decent amount of air exchange because i installed and exchanger. tons of people in alaska have to install them after building their houses too tight. they get inspected by the bank or whatever and are told you have shit air quality install an exchanger, i built mine its very easy and worth it

One should monitor the humidity levels. During the winter when the gas heat is on, the humidity level drops to around 25%. Capturing this heat and humidity to bring it back up to around 45%-50% is ideal. You certainly don't want it up around 80%.

"DO NOT do this with a gas dryer" - You know someone did this and is probabaly doing it right now... Becasue you know, not everyone can or will bother to check if their dryer is gas or electric.. "Oh it plugs into the wall socket, it's electric" derp.. Wouldn't a 4" hole saw be the thing to use to make the dryer dock hole? I mean if you have one of course... Also self tapping screws on plastic... I would have drilled the holes and bolted the dock onto the lid.. Also maybe use stainless steel bolts too so they don't rust in time Other than that nice video man.. Benefits are some extra heat in your room wherever the bucket is placed and it will smell like whatever dryer sheet you put into the dryer XD

It is carbon dioxide, carbon monoxide is a flammable gas which only occurs with incomplete combustion and is very rare anymore unless equipment is not properly maintained and oxygen levels in combustion area are extremely low!

No, it's carbon monoxide. There's a big warning label on all gas appliances about it. Burning NG or propane produces CO unless you have a super efficient burner.

Greg Morgan actually carbon monoxide is very common in automotive exhaust fumes I don't know what they are teaching in colleges these days but even back then when I was in school they were not exactly too excited about telling the customers the bad news. I was one of those guys who had to ask and read often. My conclusion is No car in production is ever efficient no matter how well maintained even right off the production line.

On a gas heater use a piece of metal duct with holes drilled in one side and a tee at the lowest end slip over the dryer vent and cap off the ends use a small 6 inch fan to push the hot air out of the chamber.

Ps... periodically remove the link screen on your dryer.. electric and gas dryers. Wash with soap and water, then replace. Purpose for doing this is to remove the film that builds up from fabric softeners. That film blocks air flow and results in longer dry times. 🌷

yeah that "humidity" is also a great way to grow mold.... most clothing loads contain about 18 lbs of water...now, all that water is going into the laundry room which is generally a closed space...in addition all that moisture will condensate on you walls attracting dust
@sprungmonkey6inches
@sprungmonkey6inches 4 года назад
Pi r squared. a 4 inch hole (or hose) allows 12.5 inches of air flow. So ur vent holes area should equal about 12.5 inces. 15/16 th has an area of .94 inches so you'll need 14 holes to not restrict the vent

Nice idea as you said the cheap plastic squares are junk. My only suggestion is to keep the aluminum flex pipe as short as possible (within reason), as the more turns and twists you have slows down the air flow. True story, I was called in to finish a house that was abandoned by the builder. The heat umps could not heat over 68 and on the cooling side did not cool below 80. When I looked in the attic all the heating and cooling lines were flex pipe, effectively doubling the distance or more. Some of the flex pipes had an actual run of 70- 80 feet, without ripping all the flex pipe out nothing could be done. The buyer (the house had been built on spec) was informed of the problem, as per the lender that hired me. He bought it "as is" as he had family in the HVAC trade and could have the work done for less than I could do it, plus he had plans to remodel the entire house. In most of NYS there is no required license to be a builder "you just need the hat" I have seen decks fall off houses, slab houses sink six feet do to no compaction, one of the worst the builder laid out the house on the only area that perc'd, requiring bring a hell of a lot of "run of bank"( some call bankrun) for anabove ground system, this was over 35 years ago and the systems for above ground systems did not exist then.

Unfortunately, many, many people won't be able to tolerate the airborne lint that DOES still get through. It will also run the humidity level VERY high in your house, high enough to cause mildew problems. Finally, if you use it in a closed laundry room, it will be literally dripping wet in that area, your drying cycle time will become quite long, and you'll slip and fall and incur medical costs just trying to get back in there to shut it off!!! You CAN reclaim a lot of that heat, but you'll end up having to build a filter box, or use a "cleanable" furnace filter, and run your furnace fan whenever you use the dryer and a device like the one shown. Electrostatic furnace filters are great, but will probably be overloaded and the cloud of saturated steam MAY harm the electronics driving your very expensive (but fantastic for normal conditions) electronic air cleaner. Whatever type of furnace filter you use or prefer, it WILL be heavily loaded or overloaded quite quickly. JUST BE AWARE OF THESE FACTORS!!!

Venting of any dryer into the home has been frowned upon for decades. Early 70's started seeing in-vent-hose boxes that would vent some of the dryer exhaust into the room with the dryer. No water was used with these as the moisture coming off the wet clothes being dried provided a bunch. The humidity that was being put into the air in that part of the home started causing mold and related health hazards. And if you fire up a dehumidifier to remove the moisture, save the cost of the dehumidifier and vent directly outdoors. Forget the inline vents and these cans. Also, as a scum layer develops on the water inside, lint coming into the bucket will just start blowing out of the vent holes in the bucket. Add filtering, you block airflow as the filters clog. Determined to be a poor idea way back in 70's as an energy saving item.

Seems like a good idea if you spend all day drying your clothes and if you dry your clothes every day. On average people use their washer and dryer machines once a week. If you need constant heat in your home, I don't see how this idea will save you money, since you would need to have your drying running constantly.

I have not tested this, but common sense says most of the lint would get blown right back up with the airflow, the water is not going to be able to catch much of it... for this to have a chance of working, the air would have to be pumped thru the water slowly, but that would pretty much stop your airflow. If this would work, your air purifiers and vacuum cleaners would have been water based. It don't.

Omg, this dude rocks. You jerks below me with your mean AF comments are messed up. That's just wrong, he's awesome. He does resemble Frank Zappa tho, yeah...

Thanks buddy. I love Frank Zappa by the way. People are just down right mean and rude anymore. If you can't say something nice or have some constructive criticism then say nothing at all. That's what i do. The problem is that those dicks really have no idea what there talking about, they just make it up, they look really smart that way when in essence they are simply uninformed idiots. Thanks again for the support

the dryer truck can only be used on a electric dryer. A Gas dryer MUST BE EXHAUSTED TO THE OUTDOORS because the air from a gas dryer contains high amounts of CO and CO2

dad attached a pair of panty hose to the end of the dryer hose. that worked fine. added lots of water to the air.

How about all that moisture inside the house condensing on cold surfaces and mold spreading everywhere?

Can some one tell me how this cuts the bill ? Does it make the dryer efficient or throw heat Amd drop the heat bill ?
@dukkieb
@dukkieb 3 года назад
The heat/electricity from the dryer is vented into your home, thus heating it with your dryer and not your furnace. You’d use your furnace less thus cutting cost.

What about the microplastics in the air. Most clothes have some form of plastic be it polyester or nylon etc etc.

how long would the dryer need to run to raise the humidity a few percentage points in a average 1500 sq ft home

Can I leave the bucket outside the house in my backyard here in Florida and doing this how much do you cut the bill ?
@mikep.4809
@mikep.4809 3 года назад
This is a great idea BUT..... if you add another Shorter aluminum hose Inside the bucket going Into the water, it will trap All the lint and blow up clean hot bubbles of warm air. It will Not Obstruct the air flow. If you look at Oxygen next to a hospital bed, it works the same way. Or look at a video of a Rainbow vacuum cleaner, same thing, taken from oxygen idea. If you let the lint keep blowing down on top of the water, it will eventually start to gather on top and stay dry, thus blowing loosely and out of the holes you drilled. Sorry but this idea is way better.

Thanks for watching. This is primarily a winter idea and not one for humid environments. See our follow-up video: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-M2ml3hRLnRI.html
