Welcome, so happy that my video helped but you did all the work. Good job man. Yes, your thinking makes sense, buy new tools to do the job. Besides, if family or friend needs their starter replaced, you can do it and get paid back for the tools you bought. Thank you for subscribing. Have a nice day.

Dude! You are the MAN! Best video tutorial ever, I respect the fact that you dont sit there and talk the whole time giving your opinions blah blah, you clearly show what needs to be done, what needs to be used to do it, and get it done. Keep up the good work, appreciate you, the Maxima is running lovely now.

Folks THIS is how a "howto" video should be done. No extraneous yakkin for 10 minutes before starting. No this dude does not mess around. Point at part. Unscrew Part. Remove Part. Next. Is this effective you ask? When a person with ZERO experience working on cars (hell, I've never changed my oil myself before) can follow this video and be successful FIRST try, I would say that it couldn't be MORE effective. Kudo's to the aptly named Fix It Angel, please know that your video helped at least one person scrapped for cash do a fairly complex install all by himself. I cant begin to tell you the satisfaction of sitting in the car and turning the key and hearing that baby crank the very first time. Amazing, thank you for the help.

I want to thank you as well. It gave me an idea how much effort and which tools would be needed. I had someone willing to do the job for $80. Based on this, I paid the cash. But, now I know if I had some more time and the right tools I can do it.

Welcome!! thats great you understood the video that is straight to the point. I get haters saying I don't talk. Well, it's simple, just follow the video. Funny how I get critics out there and all they can do is complain. I always tell them, you don't need to watch my video, better yet, make your video. LOL. At least the video will help a few people that are fast to understand what is going on. Have a nice day man. Please subscribe

Totally mezmerized by your style. I love how you just point at What you're about to do. Way better than every other RU-vidr. Right to the point and easy to figure out. Most people talk so much that they actually confuse you or give you anxiety over what you're doing. Keep up the great work.

Hi Frek Disco, Thank you for the comment. I really appreciate. Many say "how to" videos should be like this. I too get tired of other videos out there, the blah blah blah, get to the point already!! That is why I do my videos like this. I don't like wasting time. Have a nice day.

Thanks a bunch for posting the video. It helped me do the job on my own. It took me about 3 hours total, but that's because I have little experience and had a lot of difficulty with one of the connectors. It saved me a good deal of money though and gave me the satisfaction of fixing my car by myself. So, thanks again!

Awesome, I just started removal of the starter on my 2000 Maxima and got stuck trying to get to the 17mm bolt. Watching this I see I still need to remove some of the ducting and that wire conduit, then I think I'll have this thing down! Too bad it got dark and I haven't got a good light. Will have to get back to it tomorrow.

Absolutely love you video format and style. I just wish the wiring clips and hoses would come apart as easily as in the video. I learned the hard way that all I-30 and Maxima starters do not have the same number of gear teeth. A trip back to the parts store got me a match for my car.

Great video! I do have a suggestion though, where you take the last hose off which is part of the air intake, it seems as though you just tug it off with one hand. A bit misleading. I tuged with all my strength and it would not budge. I had to pry it slowly with a flathead before the hose separated from the metal part. Other than that, great video and thanks.

Did my starter replacement today per your video - straightforward enough and well done! My biggest hang-ups were getting the green sensor clips off - burnt a lot of time on those. Push in lever and press down HARD is the trick. A couple other connectors were a pain too - a small sharp blade chisel did the job better than a small blade screwdriver in order to bend back the tab to remove the connector. Once the starter was in clear view, all 3 air intake boxes removed, it was a piece of cake after removing the 17mm and 14mm bolts - came prepared with cheater bar for leverage as there's not a lot of fulcrum room. 2 hours to tear down for a first timer. Installation and reassembly was 30 minutes. One question - at 5:11 in the video - (right when the phone rings) you are removing a smaller bolt - what is that? I didn't have to deal w/ that and wasn't sure why you had to remove it. Great vid - thanks for your help. Saved me some labor dollars.

Be careful on the reinstall that you do not pinch a wire that runs by the starter. I didn't see, it and ended up pinching it. It grounded, blew fuse to computer and would not start. Had to splice wires back together and replace fuse. Just a tip.

Thank you, I really appreciate your comment. Great you understood what I was doing. There are people that complain that I do not speak on my other videos. I don't understand, they just need to follow and do what is shown. It is very difficult to record, talk and replace the part with one hand, believe me I tried. In a car manual, you have to read and comprehend what was written and sometimes that is difficult for some. Anyway, please subscribe and have a nice day.

I just did my 2003 Nissan Maxima starter with the 3.5 L engine. It is basically the same. I pulled the whole air box assembly out in one piece rather than two. I used a short 14 mm socket with a 1 1/2" extension for the top bolt and short 17 mm socket with a 4" extension on the bottom starter bolt. The 14 mm bolt has a cable mount obstructing it. I pulled the cable out of its mount for more room and I was able to get it out with the short extension combo mentioned above. The 17 mm bolt is in there very tight if it is the factory starter. Use a long handled ratchet and make sure it is on there good! Thank you 88BmyVegas for the video!!!

I’m trying to remove that part at 3:17 but it is not moving a single but! Is it possible that’s it’s glued on there ?

My car doesn't crank sometimes and I can't really look at it for a while, I have a Infiniti i30. I wonder if it's just the starter, it did set P0335 maybe caused by too much times I tried to start it last time.

+RickTrajan it could be your crank shaft position sensor. you need to bring it to a shop to test the sensor before replacing the starter. i doubt the problem is the starter.

+88BmyVegas Automotive alright, I'm working at a shop so I'll do that. I said I can't do it for a while because I go to school right now. Thanks!
