Let's make this amazing, oversized, Hooded Scarf!
It's such a cool DIY because you can add it to any outfit, instantly turning it anything into a Hooded....whatever!
You could upcycle an old sweater or sweatshirt to make this as well!
I've been wearing mine non-stop since I made it so I totally recommend this one!
MATERIALS*************************************
Sewing Machine
Ribbing - www.moodfabric...
You can always go to your local fabric store and ask them for Ribbing too.
If they don't have individual pieces like I bought,
you can buy it by the yard and simply hem.

Absolutely Fabulous and would definitely do it in a dark fabric but wish you would have shown the example in a lighter fabric to better see what you where doing. Wonderful as always.

Great idea, thank you for the inspiration from Vancouver Island, BC. When you live by the ocean, in a rainy climate during winter months, a hoodie like this is a necessity for my wavy hair.

It’s really hard to see the execution on black fabric maybe if you use some contrasting editing when you’re explaining where to stitch and so on… If and out pretty cute definitely more my style than most scarves I’ve seen!

Yes please! I could use a lot of the techniques that you show (just got back into selling and altering my clothes again myself it’s been quite a few years)and most of the time I have a lot of the same taste so a lot of your design I would love to do. As, I wear pretty much nothing but black,blues and grey and shades of that nature so I completely understand your color choice for the style!

oooooh yessyessyess OOOVERSIIIIZEDHOOOOD pleeeeease`! why-oh-why can't the non-designer-stuff-makers do oversized hoods?? I want to feel cozed by my hood, instead of having to pull it all the time. I once found an extra hood which you could pull on over anything, but lost it ... (arrrgh!) Now this one here looks super cool too . I do hope it stays on in windy weather too ....

FYI: When sewing knit fabric, if you use the knit stitch or zigzag stitch on your sewing machine you won’t need to push the fabric like that to avoid it stretching.

Now I have a question for you....I have a pair of old old old old old old old old old old old old old old old Levi 501 jeans and I'm a woman of a particular age well embraced but I need to figure out a way to rig the waistline so that it will fit around my pussel-gut. I was think to cut open the seams at the sides and put elastic? What would you recommend? PLEASE help me. 😣

Marlon Milo I think you have a great idea of opening the sides and put in in like a triangle panel of elastic I did that to my jeans when I was pregnant because I never got big enough to even wear maternity jeans. After I was pregnant from my c-sections plus other multiple surgeries on my lower stomach, regular jeans just end up rubbing and tight around there.so,I did it to two more pairs of jeans I wear regularly and they are by far my favorite jeans now even more than before!!

Gosh, I'm a self taught sewer so there are a lot of things I don't know. That's a foot Ive never used so I'm not sure. Ill need to take a class now that i know more.

Well, I am an older lady and have sewn for years but someone introduced me to a walking foot and Ive used them as of late.. They are a foot you attach to your machine that does the same thing your feed dog does to the bottom layer of your sewing. That way, at the end of the seam you dont have the top layer shorter than the bottom layer. What it does is feed the top layer of fabric the same as the bottom layer of fabric is fed by your feed dog when you sew two layers together.

Debbie Vidal it was a piece i bought from Mood. Not like yardage. They had these individual pieces available and i grabbed one. I would guess it was about a yard though.

The DIY Designer Greetings from freezing London! Over here they sell ribbing in a wide tube so I’ll try using this.... love love love all your designs and ideas! (btw, Sonia Rykiel (1930-2016) was a mega galactic French designer especially in the 1980s and 1990s. She specialised in knitwear and actually put it on the map of cutting edge fashion industry!)
