There are a few things. If that hot water heater is still full of hot water, DO NOT pour it into the toilet. You’ll melt the wax ring. You could also crack the bowl due to the temperature differences. To break the vacuum, you can open the relief valve.
I didn’t know you can un-sweat a valve or pipe. Thanks for this video. Most plumbers don’t do that original install right? Better to have a replaceable valve, and replaceable hose, like you installed? Nice work!
Handyman: Curious if you have ever replaced the anode rode in a water heater as part of routine maintenance? I have and my electric water heater is now 34 years old and still going strong. Love your variety of videos!
Have you ever had a problem where the interior of the braided water line deteriorated and started leaking? I have seen several do it and i will only use flexible copper lines now.
You open the cold water valve and the tank fills. You can open the relief valve while it fills. That’s essentially bleeding the air out of the tank and make it fill faster.
Might be cause the new water tank came with braided hoses to hook up and wouldn't fit with the old hoses? But I also don't know how he attached those new braided hoses to the supply lines..
dang i wish that valve with the leak needed to be changed, My stove valve is out of date and corroded and was told they need to change it before they would put the stove in. I couldn't losen the valve it seems stuck.
In most cases, you need to then turn off the main outside your home at the meter (its a valve on the line that needs a quarter turn to turn off), and then turn out the valve at your stove. Make sure you hold the pipe underneath the valve with another wrench as you don't want that to move as you remove the valve. Once that's out, you can find another valve at a plumbing supply or big box store and replace. You need to use gas thread sealant when you put the new valve on. Now would be the best time to raise the height of the valve with extra black pipe while everything is open if need be. Good luck.
the one that I didn't hook back up? It goes to the high presser valve. If the thermostat doesn't shut the flame off and it gets to hot it will open a valve and flow out of the hot water heater. The pipe goes down to the crawl space
My name is Kat if you’re talking to me, can you just address me by Kat and I know you’re talking to me because I’m having such a hard time I’m gonna freak out. I’ve been taking a shower in a week and that’s so gross.
I don’t know what a gas is. I don’t know what the torch is. I don’t have that just an AO Smith, and a valve that I know to knock on and turn left and right and turn it off that is it. I’m crying.😢
