I take you through the steps for building an Indoor putting green for the basement or garage. I incorporated adjustable slopes for different putting angles. Subscribe for more videos like this.
Bro just drops an all time DIY video for a dope ass custom putting green & then rides off into the sunset never posting another build. I like to imagine that you started practicing on this ingenious build with the slope adjuster and became so good that you eventually got discovered at your local puttputt golf course by an alcoholic washed up caddie. He sees your potential and eventually gets you a shot at an amateur competition where you are a runaway success. 2 years and 1 masters later (which you won btw on a banked in putt off the left slope) and you can’t be stopped, yet you decide to Retire to bring us another putting green build with a built-in rollback contraption (pleaseeee). Your caddie is back and being hounded by the pros to come back but he is 12 months sober and in a great spot in his life so he politely declines. Life’s changed bc you built the first one so you owe us a 2nd. What a legend
@@kevinhanchukTV ask and ye shall receive!!! I actually drew up my own drawings last night after watching this video. Going to incorporate the roll back but also the sloped green feature from your build. One addition I think would be cool if you intend to use it when you have friends over is a hinged side rail that unlocks and swings open onto the green as another obstacle. Please tag me when you drop it!
By far one of the best homemade putting greens that I have seen yet. Love the hinges for the angle and the stain looks great. It is almost too nice to keep in the garage! Cheers, keep up the good work! Add a secondary camera on a tripod in the background next time, you can use to capture things you forgot and the time-lapse shots are always great. I hope to see another one of your projects soon.
@@kevinhanchukTV please link us to fringe and chipping turf for larger builds. also need more details on how to do the slop bcs not wood expert but know plenty enough about contruction if directions. thanks !
@@kevinhanchukTV hey Kevin... I had a not reply to my original comment. It’s a big scam going on right now so if you could please delete their replies to my comment and keep your viewers safe that would be much appreciated. The scam just came out, so many people are falling for it.
this looks amazing, I'd be thrilled to have this. One thing I kept thinking of though, is raising the entire surface with 2' 4"s and having each cup roll the ball back if it goes it. Would be able to have a slight downslope funnel with a pvc pipe.
Came out nice. The glue you would want to use is either contact cement (apply on the wood and the bottom of the turf let it get tacky before putting them together. Or the adhesive they use for commercial carpet tiles applied with a glue trowel. I’m gonna build one super excited
I know this post is late but for anyone actually wanting to build this… Instead of buying 2x4’s, buy 2x8’s or 2x10’s. You will be able to cut a straighter line and make 2x4’s out of them in case instead of regular bought 2x4’s that will bow and warp on you. Cheers.
I know it would be a lot of work, but I’m 16 and I’d love for you to make a video of the entire process. Explaining what to buy, how you built it, how you put it together, etc. either way, I loved the video! Awesome work man!
I did this but used camry golf carpet as the surface. I used two rolls of it to get the speed down to 10.5 speed. Came out as realistic and true. Was actually mind blown lol.
You mentioned below you spent $300 CAD on this which is $235 american dollars. Wow, for the price… this is epic. Im sure you’ll be continuing to field 20 questions on this for awhile, thank you for answering those and thank you for filming this awesome build. #PuttForDough
Really great project there! Looks fantastic! Nice to have the option to practice break or not. I’ve seen lots of guys build their own putting surface and a lot of them add sand to increase the speed of it.
I just bought a proputt systems 4x14 putting green. It works great, but it definitely doesn’t look as nice as yours does. You should look at patenting your slope adjustment setup and building and selling custom ones! You could do a video for each one you build... then the buyer would not only get a putting green at the end, but would also be able to go watch THEIR putting green get built!
Sounds good Jeff. The only thing I would do different is make 4 points of adjustment instead of two. Then you could have a left to right rolling break.
Perfect! Had the will to do something similar today but more stress on just something that returns balls. Your design made me want to strive for something nicer for my dad. Appreciate it
Great work. The only things I would do differently is I would have the board hinge on the other side as well for a different or a double break. Rather then cut the turf, make it bigger.
Very nice work. Especially for a first attempt. You’re going to want to get some cup inserts to make those holes a bit smaller the more practice you get on there.
I would recommend a carpet glue. I didn’t use the correct stuff and I had parts lift a little bit. Had to go around with small nails and fix but with the thickness of the turf you can’t tell at all.
@@kevinhanchukTV any idea what you would charge? I’m only 4 hours away. And where I live (Cold Lake) everything is atleast 4 hours away so it’s perfect
Since it's been a year or so how is everything holding up now? Is the turf still in good shape or is it starting to buckle? Any suggestions on anything you would have done differently? Thanks
Everything is holding up quite well. Needs a vacuum once in a while but that’s about it. Would be nice to have sections that come apart to make it more portable.
@@kevinhanchukTV Thanks. I'm debating on whether to make one. I've looked at many & yours is definitely the best one I've seen and the most practical for me.
@kevin hanchuk very nice build. i have a very nice 2 car garage (and an even nicer land lady). This garage floor is about to be converted to office/putting green/target things to practice my game during office hours. my question is where in the world do i get the fringe turf and the higher chipping turf from? I need something i can easily order as i am not able to go on road excursion anytime soon.
That sounds awesome Todd. In my city here I called a company that does turf for lawns and stuff and they cut me off a section from a massive roll. Depending where you are located you may have a similar company available.
@@kevinhanchukTV you the man buddy. My question is what do we do if we need multiple sections. For example. I estimate the garage to be about 25 by 25 or so. I wouldn't think they have a roll that wide. Length is obv not an issue... but will the creases mess up the put or any clever ways you can think of to eliminate the creases? Since I have micro noc (network operations center) I'm buil9ng in the garage along with the big driver target and a few other goodies. I'm considering just doing the whole floor in turf so it looks SICK! when you walk in. But again, maybe not because I think it would be good to at least have a reasonable area of exposed slab for the noc and target
We have a local artificial turf shop in saskatoon here. As long as you are buying actual putting green turf and not the Home Depot type stuff you should be good. Needs to be decently thick to smooth everything out.
I found a local company that does backyard putting greens and turf lawns in saskatoon. I would imagine there would be a similar operation in most cities
