Diy Ikea 400+ Marker Storage with Ohuhu 320 Marker haul and unbox

I got the 320 brush tip Ohuhu Marker set and I had no where to put all my markers together. So after a hunt and search I cam up with this $30 Ikea DIY marker storage. I hope this helps for some of you who need a sturdy unit to hold a lot (too many) lol, pens or markers. It will hold over 400.
Instructions for the DIY-
1. pull out all drawers
2. hammer off front of drawers
3. slide off bottom of drawer
4. place bottom of drawers on top two shelfs to conceal gap in back (i used three small on top and two medium on second shelf.)
5. place drawers with backs (for added support) on shelves, glue in place. (foam-core also works for added space in back to push markes forward a bit)
6. use extra short fronts for added dividers, using popsicle sticks for extra space if needed
7. glue any moveable parts
8. paint or stain
It took me about 1 hour total

Bravo! Although I prefer the cosmetic bags, I like to take my markers to draw outside. I put the thin cardboard to the 4 sides and dividers between rows, this way all markers are in the order

An easy alternative. Have you seen wooden racks to hold CDs? An empty CD case can have a strip of paper added to the edge - or washi tape. Markers can be added above. Then add another CD and maybe the blues above that and so on. Infinitely variable. No woodwork. I do woodwork so it's no problem for me to make storage but not everyone has the skills or tools to do that. Your IKEA cabinet starting point is a good one. (I just dont have that many markers.)

Companies want to match plastic colours to marker colour, but a plastic manufacturing specialist tells me that it's just not possible. Rather like watercolour printed sheets never quite match hand swatched paint on your particular watercolour paper. I'm putting a slip of paper around my pens but the sellotape glue to hold it in place does slightly change the colours - not much, but a little.

I bet the companies really wish all the caps matched. My little tape swatch seems to be holding up so far. Your slip of paper swatch sounds like it works nicely as well. Markers are a new play creative for me. Thank you so much!

I wish I’d watched a video on Ohuhu marker sets because I ordered the 160 set. By the time I got around to organizing and the return window had expired, I realized that there was no color chart. Once I started swatching I too found duplicates and cap color didn’t match. Seeing your set I now see that I didn’t receive purples, greens, pinks that should be with any set. I’m so frustrated with it that I think I will donate to my church for the kids. My set is too incomplete to attempt to paint with them. It was an Amazon deal that was too good to be true 😢

Ya, you never know. That’s too bad they were mixed matched on you. I really wish the caps matched, all my markers were there with no duplicates, they do work nice, and now that they are organized I’m having fun. Thank you Diana!
