This is probably the coolest tree frog enclosure I have seen. What really sets it apart is the DIY part and the fact its a dang piece of furniture!! I want to do something like this now. Going to be hard to do that but this was an awesome guide...
This would have to be the best Vivarium l have seen. I have the same cabinet and have been trying to work out how l was going to make it. Thank you very much ❤️ from Australia 🇦🇺
@@lsd_irl9941 that’s awesome! I am currently doing the same exact thing. I have a reptile room for my babies. I have 5 crested geckos 1 gargoyle gecko and am about to get some whites tree frogs and maybe a few Amazon milk frogs 🐸 they are all adorable but like I am gonna create a custom, bioactive enclosure first.
I love this build. Simple, sweet, straight to the point! Definitely gonna use this as inspiration as I build my vivarium for my future black-eyed tree frog :) I wish my Fabrikor was the cute green color like yours (it's rust orange). But I got it for $50 so I couldn't say no to that deal lol. Thank you for sharing.
@@FuzzySpaghetti I have a table saw and cut a clear piece of acrylic but if you don’t have power tools available, I would go to Home Depot and either ask them to cut a piece of glass for you for the exact dimensions or a piece of wood!
Loooove it! I want one now. Did you install some type of screen to keep the frogs away from the lights & fans? Would love to see a follow up video to this!
It looks so good and such a great idea! Also I hope your channel blows up, bc you seem super laid back and hilarious too lol. Like you have "stage presence" if ya feel me? 👍🏽🤣🤣 Alwo one question - how's the snake plant handling the humidity? I mean, I live in San Diego where they're like weeds (legit), but some species are bigger divas, with excess water, than others. Some prefer more shade; while some (like the most common ones) can handle full sun all year here. I think what you have is "Fernwood" or "Fernwood Mikado". Forgot the Latin name. That one you have on the floor by the frogs is Sansiveria (Dracaena!) laurentii lol
I adore this video, thank you so much for the tutorial! I wonder, is there enough air circulation for the frogs? The cabinet is fully closed off and doesn't have a mesh top, so are ventilators enough?
Love this!!! I want whites tree frogs in the future & am 100% going to follow your diy video. I just have a few questions. Are the fans the only ventilation? Did you end up installing a fogger/mist system? & how did you create the bottom plexiglass looking piece, or is that part of the door? Such an awesome set up!!
This set up is amazing! What kind of grow light and uvb light did you use? I want to make this set up for my white tree frogs too but Im confused. I don’t know what kind of lights to buy. 🤔
I just started this build. Did you cut the front horizontal glass shelf to make it short? The one that will hold the substrate in. Mine is very tall and comes up almost halfway. I may have to take it out and cut it down so it's not so tall. Thank you. Awesome.
How awesome you were able to adopt frogs that needed a new home! Quick question, have you had any issues with water seeping under the glass at the bottom and getting icky?
nope! its been doing great same with all my other enclosures no issues! and eventually I adopted this ladies entire collection, I go up in a month to grab her last two amazon milk frogs
OMG THIS IS SO SO SO SO SO COOL!!! I neeeed to try this but just wondering, can you hear them in the room next door? And can you hear them from the floor above?
Hey! so I'm getting ready to build my first vivarium out of this exact cabinet for some poison dart frogs! do you think installing a vent/screen for air will be necessary (or is that why you went back in with the micro fans)? and lastly how did you route the wires for the lamps? Thank you so much! this video is helping me out tremendously with figuring out how to do this!
hey love so all the glass for the walls comes out, so you could replace one of them with screen if youd like, I personally think the micro fans are enough.I drilled a hole in the top cut the wire and re wired it. I know it sounds super intimidating but its super easy and takes like 5 minutes, i would look up a rewiring tutorial in vest in some heat shrink and a pair of wire strippers
Hey love this video! Just wondering how you regulate temp in this setup, is it just the light you use or do you also have heat mats? Thanks in advance!
I have a thermometer and hydrometer within the setup. the room the enclosure is in is very very stable, so no need for a heatmat, but may need to update within the winter
Sorry long reply, IDC lol - but get a quality mat with adjustable thermostat!! That way you can adjust for the seasons. It's idealI used to only have the cheapo mats, and it was ok, but never could get an accurate temp reading. I'm sure my geckos and snakes, and things that burrow, were confused why it was warm all year lol. But no harm no foul! Going forward I spent a LITTLE more on the best heating mats I could get. Preferably digital thermometer and thermostat included :-) surprisingly here in Southern California, on the Mexican border, it goes to 39°-45° for most of the winter. Sometimes fall too: generally nights here are minimum 50°-60° and that's not the summer... still you'd be surprised what herps kept inside can handle. Many animals seem to adjust like their owners. Whatever we are comfortable with, they should be fine usually. If I need to wear layers and blankets inside tho, I know to bump up their heat!
hi! ive been wanting to do something similar. for the front panel glass, did you re-use the shelf like on the bottom? if not, can you provide me measurements for the glass? thank you :D
Awesome looking viv! Just curious if you had any UV lighting in there, as only saw a regular light in there (could be wrong). As whites do need UV for bone development ^^
Oh my gosh! They're adorable! What is the cabinet called that you used? I'm moving pretty close to an ikea next week and own reptiles and have been wanting whites tree frogs for a while now. This is such a smart idea!
hello! looking to build this for apartment so because it’s more pleasing to look at. question though. how do you get the wires in and out? are you using any sort of heat source? and do you recommend uvb for something like this? thank you!!
I personally do not need supplement heat, my rooms are all heated accordingly, my bioactive enclosure keep me from changing the substrate, but as it compacts I typically will add in some new substrate
Thank you!❤ I also noticed you’ve made a different ikea enclosure but with a cutout on top instead of a fan. I’m actually going to be starting a similar project soon! So question is which way would you recommend?
@@mariahhull2619 to be honest I like both! But both have risk the fans he needs a cover so that your frogs don’t jump into them and then the cut out is dangerous to do it has more risk for yourself and not for your frog.
Hey, know it has been a while but hoping you might still respond! How is it holding up so far? Also, what's the fans function? Did you also install a mesh or smth at the lights so they can't reach it? Many thanks in case you do manage to respond :)
Funny enough i found pretty much tjis exact build but in a different cabinet for frogs online and then i found this video. Hmmmm. The universe is telling me somwthing.
Hi I have a white tree frogs so I just wanted to tell you if your frog gets secondary hyperathydoratysm then remove those pointy plants or it will get worse
Hello are you talking about the snake plants? I havent had any issues with my whites tree frogs, but recently one of my amazon milk frogs developed a tumor like growth around its thyroid/vocal sac. but their enclosure has a different kind of snake plant
hi bean! I have a new update making a newer bigger enclosure for them! Im also planning on making a video about all of the ikea furniture I have customized and which ones I would reccomend
The metal is powercoated, if you do some research on powder coating it normally is very weatherproof, I wouldn't add chemicals that are unnecessary, I just sealed areas that I drilled
Frogs wouldn't be the best for something that kids would want to hold/ handle. Honestly I'd go with a crested gecko and you could still do an enclsoure like this!!

hiii, i know your hands are probably clean, but please where gloves when touching them. their skin is very sensitive and our bare skin is bad for them!
XD wtf. Compared to an exo terra vivarium recommend for reptiles and amphibians I'd say this is a decent size. I'm going to get this for my crested gecko it's a perfect height and shouldn't be too difficult to regulate temperature and humidity.
@@lsd_irl9941 That's great. I feel like the normal recommend aren't big enough for them and theyre very active too. What do you use to provide heat and humidity in a bigger tank? Asking for future reference :)
@@elliemckee7258 I live in maryland so my house is already like 50% humidity, my basement is typically between 50-70% so its not hard at all to maintain humidity or temp tbh
