I've been looking for this a very long time. I've only encountered so far 3D printers open hardware. I found that it would be so much more important to have 2D printer for divulgation of all these news ideas related with open hardware...
Interesting, but it still appears decades behind what open source 3D printing is doing - let alone commercial 2D printing. But it's something. It can get there as long as somebody keeps at it. I think the first real goal for an open 2D printing project would be large-format specialty printers where the cost of commercial models is still prohibitive. (Much harder to compete with the common throw-away models in terms of cost vs. quality at this point.)
@@NicholasCLewis Questions related to this project, which ink cartridges are compatible with this ink shield or you're providing cartriges? Edit: I have checked the cartridge but that model is not available in my country. So can you please help me out.
how can we overcome cheat tactics by modern printer making companies that force us to use their inks and encode them? do you anyone that makes a decent printer that has reservoirs that allow self refill?
I'm thinking with a printer like this, all you have to do is use your own microcontroller. I think you'd be able to use 3rd party cartridges too, which should give you no problems. :)
