the cheapest i could find for the tune up was 460.00 and i would have to rent a car for the day at 30.00. 750 at the dealership. I did it myself 80.00 after a 20.00 coupon thank you for this great video.!!!!!
I'm a retired disabled veteran who use to work on cars and trucks but I've taken a beating over the years and I usually take my vehicles to the dealership but now I'm unable to afford it so I'm planning on doing the exact same tune-up to my 2006 hyundai tucson gls 2.7ltr. Your video is very helpful and I'm blessed to have come across it. I will view it again before I start on my tucson tomorrowmorning. Thanks so much sir.
I'm so glad i can help out, Don't hesitate to ask anything questions, thanks again for viewing...comment,like subscribe 👍🏽👍🏽 and thank you for your service 👨✈️
This video has helped me out a lot! My 2005 started sputtering, to the point of stalling at stop signs. That was not a happy thing. Thank you for your explanation video!
Thank you 🙏. Your video was very helpful with my 2007 Tucson 2.7. I ended up replacing all the spark plugs, valve cover gaskets, spark plug wires and I found a small leak just starting on the back of the valve cover gasket in cylinder 3 do to old gasket getting brittle. You make it look easy my man! Thank you again!
My daughter has same vehicle I watched your video how to change plugs 06 Tucson it really helped me out you explained how it's done well . Thanks for the help
Gotta love these new vehicles where they try to force you to take a vehicle to the garage over some spark plugs, but awesome video, I am going to be doing the same thing tomorrow.
FYI: Recommend replacing the 2 gaskets while the manifold is off, Couple more dollars avoid misfires from air leaks later on- Check the bolt torques too / Cheers!
This surprisingly is the exact same as the older (early 2000s) 2.7 litre delta hyundais like the sonata, santa fe, tiburon, and rarely seen trajet minivan (I got one), and in the USA the grandeur (we got the 3.0 theta engine). In the USA you got the kia sedona with the 3.8 litre from 06 to 10 but in 08 over here we changed to like a modified 2.7 that was the same as this except somehow VTEC was added to it. Basically an update of the old early 2000s delta. The 3.8 is actually renowned for its chain guide plastic just crumbling and dropping into the sump. Some people have a phenomenal 400k miles run, others are replacing stuff before 90k miles.
You don’t need to touch anything to throttle body or air box. Also don’t pull out the metal clip on wiring harness, just push it in and pull on connector.
Excellent video Thanks. I see why you recommended taking pictures Remember when changing spark plugs involved 1 socket wrench and a socket? Now this simple job would cost you 400 bucks at the dealer.
@@Simmonsracing187 thanks! Yeah I ended up getting them off by twisting just like you said. It felt like I was going to rip them. Used a small flat head to gently push while I twisted and it worked like a charm.
Hi just wondering if you ever had to change the valve cover gaskets my daughter's Tucson leaks in to where the spark plugs are fouled the plugs so I have to do it all again.
Bank 1 is closest to the firewall (rear) and has cylinders 1-3-5 ... Bank 2 is closest to the radiator (front) has cylinders 2-4-6 ... Firing order is 1-2-3-4-5-6 ... Coil Pack groups are 1-4, 2-5, 3-6
@@Simmonsracing187 It's been almost a year since you posted this video, but do you recall about how long it took to complete this plenum removal, plug/wire change and reinstall? I've been bogged down to get this done on my same car but targeting this month...just wondering how much of weekend to set aside
@@kenstephensvideos its a pretty easy job, should not take more than 2 hours total, make sure you replace plenum gasket, and use antiseeze on thread of plugs
Hey boss, question, I have the same car. Where is the ignition coil located? I need to change mine but I don't know if I have to get on the ground for it or if I can just stand up while doing it
@@Simmonsracing187 Okay thank you! Now the only difference is that my Hyundai Tucson 2.7 is a 2005 and not a 2006 like yours. That shouldn't matter right? Under your hood looks pretty much the same on mine
Love the video helped me change sparkplugs. Does that tucsan have a red amp wire coming from the battery? Looks like i saw one, but I've heard you cant put one on a tucsan ?
@Simmonsracing187 been trying to figure out how she had one mine won't let me install a aftermarket stereo cause it has a factory amp and factory subwoofer I want to put a aftermarket amp and subwoofer and was wondering how she was able to have one hooked up
I removed all of the bolts/nuts, but the manifold will not clear the front studs. It appears to be pivoting on the top stud of the surge tank with not enough clearance to rotate off of the two front studs. Did you have to loosen thr surge tank behind the manifold and slide it to the left in order to free the manifold from the stud and lift it up?
There one stud on each side of plenum, they are pretty short, you should be able to pull it off,did you remove the brace that reaches across the top of engine?..2:34 of video
@@Simmonsracing187 I removed the brace, but it appears (to me) that the manifold continues to pivot on the horizontal stud on top where the surge tank meets the manifold (5:05 of the video). It seems like since the manifold pivots on this horizontal stud, the manifold lifts up on an arc, which causes the holes in the front of the manifold to bind on the two corner studs (not a straight upward pull off the studs). If the two front studs were shorter or the holes not as deep, then it may lift off the front studs and then slide horizontally (to the right) off the top stud, but this does not appear to be the case. I have tried rocking the manifold every which way but loose and the holes on the front of the manifold continuously make contact with the studs due to not being able to be lifted straight up (not much play between the studs and the holes). The manifold will lift on the front about an 1/8 of an inch before the front holes make contact with the studs. I appreciate your time and response. Thank you.
The plenum actually is 2 piece, there is a bolt that goes in from the drivers side going towards passenger side, and 2 or 3 bolts that go from passenger side towards drivers side, there is a plastic guard that will need to be removed to access one of the plenum bolts
@@redraven4641 I've been thinking maybe that horizontal bolt on top may have actually been a stud with a nut, sorry I'm not 100% sure since this was my first time doing this job on a hundai
Hi, looking for how to do the tune-up to the 2006 Tucson, some appear earlier but nothing like this is the precise model for my wife's car that she bought in 2012 in Colorado and the truth is that she has not given me any problems and Since it was bought, it had not been tuned up at this level and I am going today with your very well-precise video, thanks in advance... Simmons Racing team 187
It's a metal gasket that goes on intake plenum, doesn't need to be replaced unless you damage it,you do want to replace plenum gasket that goes under plenum, it has 6 holes in it ,one per cylinder
@@Simmonsracing187 For the Manifold-Intake Plenum Gasket, clean any build up around the edges ... I put it back without doing so and the gasket shifted just enough for the raised edge to get between the two mating surfaces. This created a leak that threw a Fuel Trim error ... As you tighten the nut & 2 bolts, jiggle the gasket to ensure the 'circle' seats itself in the round opening of the intake plenum.
@@Simmonsracing187 I watched this one other video before yours and the dude was taking off all sorts of shit that didn't seem right..dude even took off throttle body
@@glitchthecat5011 I've seen that also didn't make any sense to me, but i made this video as i was doing the job for the first time....pretty much straight forward stuff, btw thanks for viewing
