Thank you for the good idea I have a 1998 camry v6 xle I'm going to do that to my grill I'm also thinking about getting a turbo and the whole kit for my camry.
Unfortunately my grill in my 2000 Camry LE is built in to the bumper. There's no way I can change it unless I change the bumper which I plan to do. I've found a grill at the junkyard. The outer edge is chrome and the rest of the grill is black. Except for the Toyota logo which is also chrome. Which is just fine. I'm looking for a silver bumper to go with the grill. The one at the junkyard is to badly damaged.
Got my gutter guard about two months ago from home Depot to do this to my 99 camry. for 3 bucks you can't beat it. I did it to my Mazda b3000 and my 93 acura legend... looked great on the legend... but the little toyota badge was a nice touch... you swear it was a jdm lol
Hi Rex I love this video, planning on doing this to my XV20 soon. I can't seem to find the same type of mesh wire anywhere tho. Did you search for "hexagonal" or something? everything I find is like chicken wire or square wire. Cheers
back then there were chrome head light half shields place on the upper half of the headlight, they were referenced as sleepy eyes in the cruising world.
I like the grill just not the eye lashes lol. I did the same thing to my headlights with vinyl but i thought it made the car look like it had makeup on. Good idea on the grill i might just do the same
Ty for video. I want to do this to my 98 Camry. 3 questions. How were you able to attach the mesh material onto the grille. Does it stay secured where no one can try to open it to access the hood. Does the entire grille stay secure onto the bottom of the bumper

very smart idea! Would just a hack saw blade thing like what you used work to do the whole thing? Too cheap to buy disks for the grinder lol. need to head over to the wreckers and pick up some parts to mess around with just like to did here, also finally improved from the electrical tape eyelashes lol
Rex H yeah should be something to do in spare time haha, I just redone my eyelashes with black gaffer tape, it’s a lot wider and sticker than electrical tape. should last a little longer but it was hard to do the bend on the indicators from it being so wide, therefore there are a couple folds that stick up haha but it looks good from a distance
In case anyone is doing an '01, that'll have 3 bolts and like 8 tabs curving back forward around the fascia. But what you also need to work with are two non-curved tabs on the bottom edge located between 4 of the previously mentioned 8 tabs. So the bottom edge is basically: TAB tab TAB ___ TAB tab TAB. Those two lower case tabs just have a wedge/barb that holds onto the fascia. Just pry the tabs and fascia away from each other, being careful not to snap anything.
So uh, I tried this exact method today on my own Camry. Went to the wreckers... $55 for the grille, but I felt obligated to buy it because the dude went out the back and actually took it off the parts for for me, then I went to Bunnings and got the same mesh wire for $15... $70 into this grille... Got home, keen to work on it, and my dremel is totally broken 🙃

Cool. You should make a race car build. Turn one of them into a race car by stripping carpets, removing sound system, installing roll cage (if you want), aerodynamics (body kit, wing, roof scoops and vents), engine upgrades and manual transmission. Lol just joking you need a budget of $75,000 to start off.
I think both style suits for you vlog and after vo recording as well. I started my youtube channel about how to make animation and films and for me the after vo recording worked better. BTW I have the same camry like you except I have the face lift late 2000 model 4cyclinder upper model (csx) It still drives like a new car I get nice feedback from friends all the time how new my car looks compared tho her age.
