Thanks to you guys putting in the time and care to make this video, I was able to replace the blown speaker in the driver’s side door of my 2000 Camry today. Ordered from crutchfield as well. We're definitely planning on doing more Camry content. It's been fun working on Kamilla's Camry and there are still a few mechanical issues we have to address. Pro-Tip: if you can’t find the correct adapters to connect the speakers you can cut and strip the stock wire and solder them to the new speaker wire, watch a quick video on how to solder (it’s very easy). I did this for my back speakers on 2001 Camry

I have a 2007 camry with non JBL stock speakers and I found 2 pairs of speakers from a JBL system camry (2005) and after installing they sound weak and the highs are so low worst than the stock ones. Now my question is do I need an amp to run these speakers? I have a aftermarket headunit too and i think those aren't powerfull enough to push those JBL speakers (speaker model 86160-AA400).
@TheNonnell
@TheNonnell 3 года назад
Let me first say that I'm not super knowledgable about speakers vs receivers. I recently upgraded my Xterra speakers and found that my aftermarket head unit needed the volume turned up to a higher level to get similar sound. My previous speakers would start to distort around volume 26, but now I can go to 26 and higher without distortion; however, I don't feel that I get all the power sent to the new speakers that I know they can handle. For that purpose I would get an Amp to increase the power output. I've noticed there is a lot of physics that go into speakers and head units from what I've read. Like my head unit is 50w x 4 channels. My understanding of this is that each speaker gets pushed 50w of power; however, my speakers are capable of much more. I believe thats why I have to crank the volume higher to get a similar effect as my old speakers. The new speakers are better by far, but I think I'll need to get an amp if I want the most out of them. Also, my new speakers are 4 Ohms all the way around. I think that rating deals with the impedance. Again, beyond my scope, but I know they have a higher impedance than my old speakers. I don't know if that helps or not, but I would recommend calling like a Freemans Car Stereo or maybe even Crutchfield and one of their associates would have a better answer then what I can give.
@vigilante9259
@vigilante9259 3 года назад
@@TheNonnell yes and the issue is my aftermarket headunit has less wattage output than my factory ones but I don't want to put my factory one again since that doesn't make sense to do. Also the speakers I got are 2 Ohms vs the 4 Ohms stock ones so I believe the headunit having hard time pushing that much power so I guess it better to go with a simple 2 Ohms amp
