You think it’s safe this way? Always wondered about the hardtop not warping or bowing. Or the strength of the gutters taking the weight. Looks like a good system
I've seen some people put the straps front to back inside/underneath the roof. Once you loosen the bolts you can move the roof back a little to make room then the straps can go all the way through with the back window open.

I have a JK, so one like you have might not fit mine. 🤷🏻♂️ I got the stuff to build my own roof-lifter-off-thingy. Nice and simple. Now to find the trusses to screw the eyes into. The rest will be a piece of cake. 😄
amzn.to/3TSTMV2 This is the rack, it looks like the crossbars are no longer available. Those are attached well enough, the roof itself it not actually all that heavy.
Thanks for the video. About to do this and ordering parts but noticed your straps in the video have hooks already on them but the link to the straps don’t have them. Did you buy the hooks separately and just put them through the end of your strap or did it come with them?
I don't. What I do is lower it slightly and make sure it's pretty lined up before going all the way. But as long as it's close, it's fairly forgiving and you can hover it into the right position before letting it all the way down. One side at a time of course.
@@DustFilmsOriginals How do you lower it since those type of straps release with quite a bang/drop when you pull the release? Do you use a 2nd person to hold the top up in some way?

It's highly unlikely, they are rated for 500 pounds each with a break strength of 1,500 pounds. This roof is pretty light, less than 150 pounds in total.
