In this Video I show you how I made Jennifer Check's Cheer / Flag Girl Outfit from the Movie Jennifer's Body! This movie has so many great quotes, and is iconic, so I felt inspired to create Jennifer's outfit using 3 XL T-shirts. I feel like this project was fairly easy and affordable, so I hope it will be easy for you to follow along.
Materials:
3 XL or XXL T-shirts (2 Purple and 1 Yellow)
Matching Thread
Craft Felt (Yellow and White for Devil's Kettle Insignia)
6mm elastic about 5 inches (for finger loops)

hi! thank you so much for this tutorial its been a lifesaver! could you explain how you sewed the collar more indepth? i’ve been having a lot of trouble with it. thanks so much!

Yes, I hope this helps make more sense of it. 1. Start with the purple shirt, make sure the sides have been sewn to fit you. Make sure the shirt is right side out. Meaning the edges that you have zig-zag stitched are hidden on the inside of the shirt. You can see the right side (the outside) of the shirt. 2. Cut a strip of yellow fabric for the band of yellow around the neckline of the purple shirt. The strip should be a rectangle about 2 inches wide and you want it about 1 or 2 inches longer than your neckline. You will need to measure around the neckline with your tape measure and then cut out your yellow rectangle to ensure it will be longer. (It is better for the strip to be longer and trim away the excess later. If it is too short It won't work) 3. On the long side of your yellow rectangle match the two sides together. You will be folding your strip in half (hot dog style) matching the two long edges together. 4. Pin around the neckline. Start at the center front of your shirt (at the point of the v on your neckline). Use pins and pin the yellow strip (that has been folded in half) to the edge of the neckline. You will be matching both sides of your yellow strip to the edge of the purple shirt and pin together. You can just lay your folded-in-half yellow rectangle on-top of the purple shirt, matching it to the neckline. The folded side of the yellow rectangle should be pointing down. * Essentially, just match the 3 cut edges together. Match the 2 sides of the yellow strip and the 1 edge of your neckline. 5. Zig zag stitch the 3 edges together. 6. On the inside of the shirt, Fold the yellow edge down towards the inside of your dress, and using a straight stitch on the machine top stitch it in place. (This helps keep the seam allowance folded towards the inside of your dress and helps keep the collar band flat) You're basically just sewing the seam allowance of the yellow band down. 7. Finishing the point of the collar. The center front (the point of the v on your neckline) has not been sewn. You have started and stopped your stitching here, but the edges are not sewn. You are going to want to sew the two sides of your yellow band together to finish the yellow collar. To do that, match the two sides of your yellow band together. Make sure the right sides are facing one another. (The outsides of the band touching) From the folded edge to the inside edge sew a diagonal straight stitch. (A shape like a back slash \ ) Sewing in a diagonal helps make the v shape, so that the collar lies flat in the V-neck shape. Before trimming, make sure the collar is flat. Make sure you have sewn the diagonal in the right direction. After checking the shape, you can cut off the extra fabric from the sewn diagonal. That will finish making the collar. I hope this detailed explanation makes sense! If there is something particular you would like more information on please let me know, I will do my best to explain :) Wishing your the best of luck!

@@KittyJBerry Thank you so much! I actually figured out the collar a little while after I commented this, what i’m currently stuck on is pleading the skirt. When I go to sew around to make the pleats I mess it up and have to rip the seam and start over. Do you have any tips on how to keep the pleats down so it doesn’t move when sewing? I pinned exactly like you did. Thank you again so much!

I couldn’t figure out the cuts you did ... find one I can figure out this is too confusing cutting here there ... not easy for novices you think your making it clear it’s not when you cut pieces out ...
