In this video I will show you how to make your own ball head pins for jewelry.
I use copper wire in this video but you can also use sterling and pure silver wire as well.
I like to make my own head pins for that special hand made touch that it gives the jewelry I make.
You will also be learning how to use a butane torch which will open you up to all new possibilities in jewelry making!
I hope you enjoy!

I've finally moved to my Forever Home in the Florida Keys, and am setting up my workshop. Your video is very helpful! I have a work area that will have better ventilation for things like this, and a desk in my great room for making jewelry, relaxing in the AC, and watching TV!

Oh my. Aren’t you lucky! My favorite place in the whole world. A beautiful beach with sugar white sand and crystal blue water. May your days be filled with happiness. I can no longer go to the beach as I have COPD really bad from a lifetime of smoking cigarettes and pot. I did enjoy both very much. Even though I can hardly do anything at all and gasp for air at times when I exert myself I still crave a cigarette. Nicotine is a powerful drug and I wish I had never tried a cigarette. I am also a cancer survivor. I had stage 4 lung cancer but I have shown no sign of disease for over two years now thanks to a drug called Keytruda and my God in heaven. Enjoy making your jewelry in a most beautiful place.

I like the head pins, they look beautiful, I like how you use the top of your stove as a work area for making the head pins, what do you use to place on top of the stove? Can I use your home made pickle solution on sterling silver, and how does it differ from store bought pickle solution, at what temp should I keep the crock pot at? Thanks
@ZurickDesigns
@ZurickDesigns Месяц назад
You could put a fire brick on an old tile or something. I make my own pickle since I don’t use it that often. I’m not sure what store bought is like tbh. My crockpot is probably a low setting. It’s a Little Dipper crockpot.

Well Done! It's a rainy day... I've watched Several, of you Copper Jewelry Videos. Impressive!❤ I too, am a Metal/Silversmith in the making, lol. Making beautiful things by using fire and then beating the tar of them with Hammers! Makes a girl smile😁 Gonna make a couple of the washer hammered rings, just for fun, today. Thanks! Have a beautiful day.

Hello! I've tried this with my different wires, but it's not "balling", the wire is just getting red. Is it a certain type of wire? (Pure copper, sterling silver) only? Thank you!
@ZurickDesigns

Depends on the wire you are using. For example has a higher melting point than sterling.

Help! I purchased a huge roll of bare 16g aw16 wire. I found out it is annealed wire. Can I ball up wire that is already annealed? I have never had problems with copper wire I have used in the past.

I don’t think you’ll have a problem. Try pulling it out a few times with a cloth or nylon jaw pliers

Interesting idea. I would probably use a bead that could handle the heat. Some that have already gone there heat treatment may become brittle and break easily.

Hi Melissa you are one of my favorite artists. You are so versatile. I have a question about the pickle. I just started using my torch(finally) and a lot of other artists say the pickle gets toxic and to dispose of it at a toxic waste dump. I live in a small town and I don't think we even have one. What do you do? Thanks
@ZurickDesigns
@ZurickDesigns 2 года назад
I just use vinegar. Google how to make natural jewelers pickle and it will show you. I don’t torch enough to justify purchasing pickle. I use a tiny Little Dipper crock pot.
@michelletanner948
@michelletanner948 2 года назад
I to have the little crock pot but I was wondering how you dispose of the vinegar solution? Doesn't it get toxic after a while?
@ZurickDesigns
@ZurickDesigns 2 года назад
@@michelletanner948 I’ve read that since it will have traces of metal in it it’s considered hazardous and to bring it to your local hazardous waste facility to dispose of it. My pickle is still in storage in a mason jar. I can reheat it in the microwave or throw it in the crock pot if needed.
