Hey friends, so I started the loft build and here is how it went. A lot of time was spent planning on this one so I can get it just right. I have slept in lofts sense I was a kid and they are awesome but there are a view challenges to over come, that I explain in this video. As always if you have any questions you know where to find me. Let me know what you think down below. If you really enjoyed this I hope I earned your sub!

Nice job Josh! Your kids will love it! When I was about 10, my Dad and some of his friends built me a loft and underneath there was a desk.

Nice work! Your children will love it! Idea: A small climbing wall against the wall would be awesome for them to get up when they'll be older!! Thanks for your interesting videos, and for these small moments of your nice family, they also are a good example to follow and aim to!

Hey man. I really enjoy the vids, especially the "oddball" stuff that doesn't fit in. I'm an arborist and I'm just curious about rope work in general. I'd also love to hear some more about the industrial rope-access work you do, seems really interesting!

I second the industrial stuff

Very cool build. On the topic of screws, Torx is definitely one of the best screwheads out there. (That's the star you mentioned) Much better than Philips or something like that. Also, I recommend an Impact driver for all you screwing needs, so much better than a cordless drill.
@BetaClimbers
@BetaClimbers 3 года назад
Yeah torx screws are my favorite I have all the kiiiiinds of bits and sizes for those. But this was some special star one like you said. I couldn’t find that special bit anywhere. Lol it’s better to always use something standard in my opinion. So you don’t have to run out and buy some special whatever it is.
@raphaelbeinhauer9242
@raphaelbeinhauer9242 3 года назад
@@BetaClimbers Oh, it was a different from torx? Nevermind then, I feel your frustration
@BetaClimbers
@BetaClimbers 3 года назад
@@raphaelbeinhauer9242 yeah very frustrating lol 😂 most of the weren’t crazy tight so I got them out with vise crips but that particular one I have to file some flat spots. That was only the first road block. Me and my wife prob got into 3 fights. 🤣
@raphaelbeinhauer9242
@raphaelbeinhauer9242 3 года назад
@@BetaClimbers One thing I like to do in those cases is to cut a slot with an angle grinder, the use a large flathead screwdriver
@BetaClimbers
@BetaClimbers 3 года назад
@@raphaelbeinhauer9242 Yepp that’s another way to skin that cat. I was avoiding the fire hazard I didn’t want to have to fill out a hot working permit with my boss (wife) 😂

Really enjoyed this one! Just getting into woodworking myself, hoping to make something with joints, without screws, soon.
@BetaClimbers

Yeah it certainly takes some practice work on cheap wood, Scraps and stuff 🤙🏻

One way to find studs is with one of those VERY strong magnets, you should be able to locate the screws that fix the plaster board and then draw soft pencil lines to mark the stud
@BetaClimbers

Good tip I’ll give that one a try 🤙🏻

Dude you are the master of overcomplication lol....I love it, it's awesome and looks great...I would've gave up for a week after cutting those channel joints to cover the plywood. How did you get the rounded chamfer? Did you sand it after cutting into that shape?....PS. I would've told my wife, "You frickin whip the rope ends, I'm dipping them b*tches".....But don't tell her I said that.

I know this video is 3 years old at the time I'm asking this, but did you ever build the "elevator"? If so I'd love to see the results, especially it in use. Thanks!

@@finster101 elevator never happened but I did make a video called magic elevator. You can check that out.

Hey Josh how do you plan builds like this? Pencil and paper diagrams mainly?
@BetaClimbers
@BetaClimbers 3 года назад
No just from my head. Should have used paper first then I prob would have saved some trips back and forth to the store. But I’m my experience things always come up while I’m making a project that I didn’t think of. I think that is why engineers and builders fight lol. For instance I originally planned that the 4x4 was going to just be flush with the ceiling then i figured hey why not go right through it. And there where prob another hand full of things like that. I just like to get started building and go from there. Obviously the crucial things needs to be on paper like bed length and width and height. Stuff like that

@@BetaClimbers thought it had to be something. Respect. Good dads build their kids stuff I believe. Hey man. I’m a climbing teee worker and own a company based on trees and landscape horticulture architecture. I found your channel a while back when I started uploading myself. and love it. I’d LOVE if you’d do a tree climbing series. Fails would be endless but anything around trees and static rope SRT, DDRT. Keep up the great work bro

@@AdvancedLawn I have my eye on the rope wrench looks pretty cool. Only thing that worries my is somthing pushing down on the prussic then you would go for a ride. I’m planning on making one with a micro trax and testing that out.
