Hiddy Ho there Owen. Hope you are doing good tonight. I'm doing good but I guess we have some more winter on it's way for our area tonight. But not much only about 2-5 inches. God bless....
If you buy a bunch of chives with the roots on.....you can cut them off about 1 or 2 inches above the roots than you can use the chives in your cooking and plant the roots in the ground with the stem above the ground..... just pick the leaves when they grow and the will keep producing for a year or so.
I live in TN and I have thyme, rosemary, oregano, mint and basil that come up every year. They are in pots on my deck. I’m interested to see if the sage I planted last year comes up in the Spring. I always plant dill each year because it doesn’t winter over. I enjoy your videos so much Tessie!
Good Morning Tessie, Sisters, Brothers, and Friends:) Wish you all a wonderful blessed Wednesday filled with Gods joy and happiness:) God Bless you :) Love you all:) Remember tp pray for one another:) Keep smiling:)
Hi Owen !! I hope all is well with you ! I think that I'm doing the last of my prepping this morning ! It's a very stressful time right now....Take care ...
@@Lisa-cj6vx Good Morning Lisa H, Yes it is a stressful time good your prepping up I'm still prepping to have to get a few more things and I'll be done for now:)
You got me excited to germinate some herbs for the first time. Dollar Tree : Sweet Basil, Thyme, Oregano and Lavendar on task for tomorrow. I'm gonna use some recycled water bottles cut in half and a small clear square container potato salad came in. Walking better each day. 🌱
Tease just wanted you to know how appreciated you are . I learn so much from you . You have the most gentle spirit and soothing voice . I ve never had any kids but would have been so proud to have had a daughter like you . God bless and keep you .
@@amywalker3267 i live in Russellville. 30 miles from Bowling Green and about 90 miles from nashville, Tennessee. I now live in town but grew up on a farm. I really miss the country.
I do this too, I love propagating my house plants & then I can give them to my family.! I just love my plants!! It’s awesome having a green thumb!! Nice vid Tessie 💝
Hi Tessie!! Great video!! Carol brought up a great point about how mint spreads.. about 10 years ago I planted a few starts and within a couple of years it took over half of a really big garden..I finally had to use weed killer and some still came back!! I love it but now plant in an old galvanized tub. Maybe mint just really likes my soil. I am going to try some rosemary and thyme with your method!! Root hormone is some super duper stuff!!! What a great visit and will look forward to tomorrow's!! You and hubby have a blessed night!!🥰🤗♥️
Awesome video Tessie. Great info. I did not know that you could re-root Herbs like that. Thanks for sharing it with us. God Bless Y'all. Much love to you Sweet Sis. Hugggggs
Wonderful video! Great ideas to start the herb garden. We take cuttings of our herbs every fall and overwinter on the window sill in water until the roots form, then plant into little pots for the windowsill and transplant outside after last frost date. Rosemary can be made to survive cold winter in the ground by cutting back to 3" just after first frost and covering with good 4 inches or so of good compost mulch until spring. We have rosemary plants that are years old by doing this method. Love how you teach and show frugality as part of the homestead lifestyle! Thanks so much for all your videos!
I love watching you do these little projects. Thank you for all the tips, I am definitely going to try this, I hope I am as successful as you are. I love the taste of fresh mint, that is the first one I would try. Are you going to do a video on all of the essential oils that you use, I love making my own cleaning products and just using them around my home to make it smell fabulous! I hope you enjoy your evening!
Thank you Tessie, I have just told my better half about your herb growing, he said he did this it’s a shoot off the Bay leaf shrub/tree and it was successful too.🙂🌸
Look really nice, it´s a good idea! Have plants I bought years ago in the grocery store as small plants to cut off, now the are big nice plants in my kitchen window, to use all year around. Love the water bottle BTW :)
You amaze me! I am feeling so confident now and I can’t wait to get started! Wooohoooo!, You do make it look easy. I am so thankful that you take the time to show every step, even using the excess for the cleaning solution. Plus, I love your video with the sun shining on your project. I work In a basement with no windows so I miss the sun very much. I spend as much time outside as possible on the weekends. Thank you for sharing you and all your great skills - we love you Tessie!,
Cheryl Yankey I’ve done that in past years...I went to buy some this year the price went from 1.79 a pot to 2.99 small pots at that.Starting all from seeds again this year🦋
I’m commenting sweetie. I’m getting ready to go to Church but getting some Homestead motivation going on as I do, I watch this the other day.. but I like to watch them some more than once 🥰
Oh my , $.99 is a great price.Im particularly fond of rosemary.I love at Christmas time how they shape a large pot of it into a Christmas tree🤗 Interesting to see if using the hormone grows differently because you do so well with your herbs. Thanks for always teaching us new things. Your hands must smell heaving after stripping some rosemary off🦋
I will be hitting the stores up for the mint plants and the dollar tree for small pots .. thank you so much for the tips on herbs and i also like the cleaner for the bathroom etc ! take care and stay safe God Bless : )
Now you've got me into herbs. I even just bought Rosemary Gladstar's book after you showed it to us. I think I'll be enjoying growing a few herbs, thanks to you for making this video.
What a fantastic idea! I make my dogs food and it calls for rosemary which like you said and this would be much better than the dried up dead stuff in the can.
Great idea, i never thought to do that. Gotta go to the store now to buy all that stuff . Thanks for sharing your life with us 😊❤✌🌸 Have a great night, your friend from ohio
Just did this last week with Rosemary, oregano, thyme, basic mint and sage. And have some mint and basil in water. I also use the cheap clear shower caps from dollar tree...and also you could use the bottles like soda or water comes in and just cut it half, plant the stem and the put the top half back on...works great
Mint comes back every year here and spreads horribly if not kept in a container. My MIL found out the hard way when she planted it. I got my plants from her. I poke holes in the top of a drink bottle lid to make sprinklers for watering my seedlings. Have a blessed day.
Good Mornings Tessie. Thank you so much for this Vid. So excited. Also started with herb garden and shorty starting with veg thx to you. So Blessed to have found you on youtube and fb. Going to love Gardening Series . Lotsa Love
What a great idea! And that cleaner will be amazing. I planted seeds from a pomegranate and kiwi and now have lots of pomegranate plants and kiwi plants! Have a blessed day 🙏
Awesome ideas Tessie. I love gardening & love doing this. I'm in a different climate than I'm used to plus now renting an apt...so my only gardening now is indoors or pots.
Great tips Tessie :) I'm going to try this project - gotta find a grocery store that has gresh herbs! BTW - I went to Lowe's hardware store today and they had some half dead plants for 90% off. Got 2 orchids for .80 cents each - gonna try to revive them :)
Was in Walmart last week and they still had some Valentine type flowers marking down and i got 2 mini roses and 2 cactus for $3 and only 1 needed some water n tlc.
What a great idea, never heard of this before. I will have to keep my eyes open, every now and again they put ours on sale for 99 cents and I stock up.
Hi Tessie! I'm a horticulturiest, and I just want you to know that you don't need to put that much hormone on the cuttings, in fact, too much hormone can keep them from rooting. You only have to dip it about 1/4 inch down into the hormone. I know how frugal you are, so this will save you money on rooting hormone. :)
Nice Video 👍 Tessie 🌹 Great start for spring 👌 Thank you so much for teaching us the different options to starting herbs 🌱🌱🌱 Hope you and Kenny doing well 🤗 Have a great and blessed day 💞 God bless you 🙏 Love you💖🤗✝️
Tessie! I've never seen anything like this before! Thank you so much for teaching me! You're just an awesome child of God! :) Dawn @ Rich & Dawn in MN :)
I live in an area that always makes into the teens in the winter and I have a rosemary bush that has survived for over 20 years now. It is about 6 feet in diameter and over 5 feet tall. Last fall I took some cuttings and started a couple of pots to see if I could overwinter them inside since I know they like lots of sun. I have a sort of sunroom and they did great.
We had one year that got below 0 for several weeks and it almost killed it. Many people here did have their rosemary killed, but mine was only severely damaged, and came back. If your rosemary is not too big, I would think you could cover it to help protect it. Mine is just too big for that. Good luck with it. Love and hugs.
How neat!! I'm going to try this ! TY Tessie, :) You Inspire me so much! You have got me up and walking around, and also you inspired me to go and have shots in my back and GOD BLESSED THE DOCTOR IT WORKED!!! I;,m not in so much pain , I even making Fannys Choc Cake !!! THANK YOU SWEET TESSIE! :)
