I used scrap composite decking and treated 2x2 lumber to create this. It’s a lit more solid than our old store-bought net ones (they wear out over time and don’t throw the ball back as hard).
Materials used in this build:
(4) 78” treated 2”x2” lumber
(8) 5/4 composite deck boards (each approx 44” x 5”). Actual thickness is almost exactly 1”
(80) 1 5/8”exterior/deck screws (I had these laying around, works fine but I suggest 2.5” ones if buying new)
(2) 3/8” x 5/8” galvanized carriage bolts (4” length would have worked fine)
(4) 3/8” galvanized washers
(4) 3/8” galvanized nuts (two per bolt acts as a “jam nut” and will stay tighter longer
(4) 44” long scrap wood (3/4” plywood, spare 2x2s, etc). Three to brace behind the main surface and one as a horizontal stabilizer on the rear legs.
Tools I used: drill/driver, 1/8” drill bit for pilot holes, countersink bit, mitre saw, table saw (optional, used to rip the scrap supports).
