Electric lapsteel guitar made out of a plank of spruce, a pickup from an old guitar, and some bits of hardware I bought. Made in my dad's workshop over New Year 2016/17.

Wow great work! It sounds great! Amazing to hear Sí Bheag Sí Mór - I really wasn't expecting to hear Irish music!

I hadn't played one either. I did this purely for the fun of building it, but now I have it I'm enjoying learning it! Enjoy your project!

Awesome! My son is looking to build a string instrument for his 8th grade project (with a mentor). Wondering how many hours this took (approx)?

sounds great how did you know where to place all the holes for the tuner mechanisms which is a key part

It doesn't have to be that precise. Three on either side evenly spaced will ensure they do not get in each other's way. I did find that the strings would 'jump' out of their slots on the nut, which is why I had to add the small brass string guides afterwards.
