You are the best! I've always wanted to sew but never had a good teacher so I just gave up. Now at the ripe ole' age of 75yo you have given me the opportunity to give it a go once again. ☺️

I was really pleased to find a tutorial in English and not American. Thank you for making the tutorial. Cutting the edges down, leaving a piece of longer ribbon and the sewing at the end were little bits that I had forgotten so I'm glad I found you. Thank you for being so detailed.

Really excellent. This video makes me realise where I have gone wrong, every time I've attempted to make a stuffed heart. I especially like the section which demonstrates how to close the hole with invisible stitching. This project will be perfect for my daughter to try out as it is something that does not take too long and makes good use of scraps. 😊

This is so clearly explained, any tips on sewing on the line as you go round, can't seem to keep on the line, maybe I'm moving it too much? Many thanks for this tutorial.
@MadetoSew

Hi Mary-Rose, glad I could help. I would say be gentle with how much you are moving the fabric. If you have speed control on your machine try making it slower? This can also help.

Nice video your hand sewing was the best shown on youtube I believe. I have seen lots of people try to show it but of course it wasn't positioned right for their camera or their thread was to light colored or something.

Hi Sheila, Thank you for your lovely comment. Lovely idea! I have garden lavender drying in my shed! I would press before turning the right side, it just makes a smoother seam line when turned. Was it ladder stitch you were using as a closure? Fabulous video thank you so much.
@MadetoSew
@MadetoSew 2 года назад
Oh how wonderful that you have some garden lavender ready to go. Yes, I used a ladder stitch to close the hear shape. Great idea about the pressing it will make a neater seam if you have the time to do it. Thank you for sharing. Aneka x

May I ask how you finish it off? After the hand sewing it doesn't say how to finish this key element to stop it coming undone :( Thank you.

Hi Lucie, I would suggest tying a knot to start with, perhaps sewing over yourself a few times and then hiding the knot inside the item. I think I might show it better on this tutorial: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-K3fFHV6r9Ow.html Where I sewed up the heart? Let me know, Aneka x

Hi Johanna, really pleased you enjoyed it. The template link is in the description box below the video. Wouldn't it just be easier to cut 2 hearts at the same time? Save a step and time! Nice video tho! Thanks for your excellent instructions.

@@MadetoSew sorry! of course, that makes sense! Didn't think of that. Super cute hearts. I did some fabric stuffed but i hot glued them... based on another youtuber and the ran a pinking shear around the edges. They are ok but I'm going to sew a new batch instead. Yours are too stinkin' cute!

This is a wonderful tutorial. I had been trying to make one of these on my own and found this very helpful. I am very much a novice sewer and I am having problems going around the curviest part of the heart shape. I go slowly but seem to end up with a more boxy look than I want. Is there a trick to getting the curves just right with a sewing machine?
@MadetoSew
@MadetoSew 6 лет назад
Hi Nancy, lovely to hear from you. Thank you for your kind words. I would say that it is practise and taking it slowly on the machine. I would recommend that you draw your stitching line onto the fabric, in the shape of the heart, so that you have accurate curves to follow. You could also use the hand wheel on the sewing machine, turn this towards you to complete a stitch. You can use this when you are trying to stitch around the difficult parts and are worried about going too far (with the foot pedal). You can also take the last stitch out of the machine, turn the hand wheel away from you to lift the needle back up. Then you need to make sure you trim close enough to the curves to get them to turn out smoothly and accurately. I hope this helps? Aneka x

I love this tutorial, I am definitely going to make this as a gift. I was wondering if it is crucial to add seam allowance and just have a slightly smaller pouch. Thanks!!
@MadetoSew
@MadetoSew 8 лет назад
Hello Anuj, thank you for your lovely comment. I am really pleased that you enjoyed the tutorial. Of course you can decide to NOT add the seam allowances. You are correct in thinking that you would just have a smaller pouch. Good luck! Aneka

+Made To Sew Thank you for replying, I don't have a great ruler (from pound land seven years ago) or scissors (my mums thread snips) so adding seam allowance would be a real challenge.
@MsPinklipstick
@MsPinklipstick 3 года назад
Wouldn't it be better to add the seam allowance to the template? Would save a lot of measuring each time.
@MadetoSew
@MadetoSew 3 года назад
Hi Jean, of course you are welcome to add the seam allowance to the template. The only reason I didn't teach this, was that I found in classes (with beginners), that they found it easier to follow the drawn stitching line. The shapes they sewed were more precise. I hope this helps, either way works. Aneka x
