If you have a small garden, patio, balcony or stoop, a hanging wood picture frame chock full of gorgeous living succulents is a simple way to add personality and style to your home or apartment. There are so many wonderful online tutorials to show you how, but after making several over the years myself, I realized there is a much simpler way to make a succulent picture frame. No special tools necessary.
Instead of making a frame from scratch or adapting an old picture frame with an added wood support base, just buy a wood artist panel that is
1 1/2-3 inches deep. Cover the back with a coco fiber liner, fill with soil and top off with some sphagnum moss. Instead of poky hardware cloth, finish the frame with plastic wire mesh. Attach with staples and a staple gun.
Finally, add your succulents of choice. Let the succulent frame rest on a table in half sun and half shade for a few weeks until the plants have rooted in. Water once a week. Hang your succulent frame and enjoy.
