I love this!!! i want to do this for sure we have so many stumps!! we are working on our nursery now :) our stumps are out in the snow thought do you guys think it needs lots of time to dry?

It could take a couple days to a week. But a week would probably be better.

how do you know if the log is seasoned well enough, ie not too fresh? Or does a fresher log work better?

+Arturo Vidich We think it is better to let it dry out for a week or two. This makes it easier to remove the bark. Since wood takes longer than that to fully dry out we sealed the top and all the sides but left the bottom unsealed to allow the wood to continue to dry over time.

Next time bud use a grinder or a wire brush grinder it’s a lot easier I made some candle holders out of logs in that so I don’t and it turned out just the same and then I use a cutting torch to give it a burn smoked look

Next time secure that thing in the back of the car. Had you slammed on the breaks it Could have been ugly.

Yes, hindsight is 20/20. We learn a lot of lesson the hard way and are glad this was not one of them.
