3mm Classic String (Colour: Natural)
Hey guys! I have a new design for you today that you can use within the centre of your macrame diamonds. It is so beautiful and can be created so that the design sits on the left or right side of your work as you can see here. Let’s get started!
Cut 8 pieces of 3mm classic natural string, each piece is 6 ft in length. Fold each piece in half and attach to your dowel using Lark’s head knots. We will create a diamond with two layers. Begin by using double half hitch knots to create the top half of the first layer of the diamond.
Again use double half hitch knots to create the top half of the second layer of the diamond.
Next we will create the centre design so that it sits on the left. Do so by crossing the left and right cords before tying them to the filler cords. To keep the right cords out of the way for now you can hang them on your dowel as I’ve done here. Tie the cords on the left to the filler cord on the left to create the bottom half of the first layer of the diamond. Make sure you tie the cords in order starting from the centre and working your way out as I’ll do here.
When you tie the cords to the filler cord on the right start with the cord at the top and then work your way down as I’ll do here.
Again use dhhks to tie the bottom half of the second layer of the diamond.
To create the centre design so that it sits on the right, cross your cords the other way then tie your dhhks on the right side of your work first and then on the left side of your work.
Thanks so much for watching!
