3mm Classic String (Colour: Natural)
Hey guys! I have a new design for you today that you can use within the centre of your macrame diamonds. It is so beautiful and can be created so that the design sits on the left or right side of your work as you can see here. Let’s get started!
Cut 8 pieces of 3mm classic natural string, each piece is 6 ft in length. Fold each piece in half and attach to your dowel using Lark’s head knots. We will create a diamond with two layers. Begin by using double half hitch knots to create the top half of the first layer of the diamond.
Again use double half hitch knots to create the top half of the second layer of the diamond.
Next we will create the centre design so that it sits on the left. Do so by crossing the left and right cords before tying them to the filler cords. To keep the right cords out of the way for now you can hang them on your dowel as I’ve done here. Tie the cords on the left to the filler cord on the left to create the bottom half of the first layer of the diamond. Make sure you tie the cords in order starting from the centre and working your way out as I’ll do here.
When you tie the cords to the filler cord on the right start with the cord at the top and then work your way down as I’ll do here.
Again use dhhks to tie the bottom half of the second layer of the diamond.
To create the centre design so that it sits on the right, cross your cords the other way then tie your dhhks on the right side of your work first and then on the left side of your work.
Thanks so much for watching!

Thanks so much for amazing tutorials! I just completed one of your beginner/advance tutorials and I'm in love. Back for another! I really like this diamond center you are teaching here. Not sure if you answer questions but in case you do, can you tell me how do I figure out the length of cord I need to make 6 of these type of diamonds? the 6 ft instruction yields for how many? Thx!

I love your creations and instructional videos. I am a complete novice but I am also a bit renegade in that I created a curtain without a pattern, but merely by looking at your videos. I am now working on two others for adjacent windows in my house. I want to create a look that is a progression in colours of the waters where I sail. Do you have any techniques for adding colours horizontally rather than using larks heads in a vertical means? All I can think of is to add a horizontal rope, and leave spaces between the half hitches of the top colour to add extra larks heads of the new colour. Do you know what I mean? Is it possible or will I just make a mess of it? Thanks for any ideas :)

What type of cord are you using. String cord or cotton cord to me doesnt give the soft effect that you have here. Its a beautiful pattern.

What length of dowel? Sorry, but I never can find the finished width of these projects.

She is just showing how to make the diamond pattern. I believe you can use whatever size dowel you want.

Greetings from Brazil! Your work and art are fantastic. I leave you two suggestions to increase the quality of your tutorials, which are phenomenal: 1 - Leave with subtitles to automatically translate into other languages. 2 - Position the camera to facilitate the learning process. Often you can't see what you're doing in explanations, because your hand is in front of the camera. I wish you a great New Year and thanks for the tutorials.
