Making your own isopod food is not only rewarding, it could also healthier than some store-bought options.
Feel free to experiment with the recipe to see what your isopods like best. Mine all eat this up and my springtails love it too. This dry food along with fresh veggies is what I feed my isopods with great success.
*Note: always give your isopods calcium, cuttlebone is a good option, it can be given in chunks or crushed down.
Adjust the recipe based on the amount of food you want to produce.
This keeps well in a sealed bag in the fridge.
2 cups rice bran
2 cups cornmeal
2 cups flaxseed powder
2 cups bean flour
2 cups dried potato flakes
2 cups fish flakes
2 cups dried soldier fly larvae
1 cup dry yeast
2 tbs bee pollen
2 tbs calcium carbonate
You got this!
For those of you who want to give it a try before you make a large batch, I have some available on isopodcorner.ca
