I complete the walls by fixing structural OSB boards to the framework and weather-proofing them

Creocoat is basically creosote and is great on any outside surfaces but should never be used on internal structures as it is a health hazard. Fine on the outside osb but should never be used on internal osb.

Coming on nicely. Good tip on leaving a slight gap between the boards, it wouldn't have crossed my mind to do that. Any reason why you left the support blocks hanging out & not putting them fully underneath?
@21stcenturycaveman33
@21stcenturycaveman33 4 года назад
Thanks very much buddy. By support blocks do you mean the concrete blocks? If so, then I left them sticking out a bit to make sure there was enough area to put the subframe on. I wanted to make sure it was fully supported. Also (and this is purely by chance) by the time I fit battens and external cladding you want see much of them anyway. Best wishes my friend, Des

Ah yes, that would make sense to leave them like that 🛠

Nice shed you have built! I too have a sloping garden, I’m under the impression that for permitted development, the max overall height is no more than 2.5m and that is taken from the original footing the house is built on, or the highest point on the ground ?
@richardjones8546
@richardjones8546 2 года назад
Great video enjoyed that. Quick question if you don’t mind, I’d 9mm OSB ok to use for the walls?
@21stcenturycaveman33
@21stcenturycaveman33 2 года назад
Hi there. Personally I think it's too flimsy. However, I suppose it depends what you;re going to use it for and whether you'll be cladding the outside? If your build is just for light use and you're going to clad over the OSB and aren't that bothered about retaining warmth inside then it'll probably be OK. Otherwise, I wouldnt personally. Best wishes, Des

Hello, good work :) The space you left between boards (for expansion), does it cause any water leakage? Did you do any operation for them ?

What is it that you used to water proof the osb wood? I'm building my shop and in hindsight i wish i would have bought siding. I would like my shop to end up white.

Quick question, I have OSB on the roof and I want to use creacoat it before adding the felt, is this a good idea do you think? How long does it take for creacoat to dry roughly?
@21stcenturycaveman33
@21stcenturycaveman33 2 года назад
Yes, absolutely. Do it. Drying will depend on weather. In current weather it shhould be dry by end of the day I would have thought. Best, Des

Really coming on well now. Tip for when using the circular saw, clamp a straight length of something to the work piece and then use it as your guide to get a nice straight cut, it works kind of like a track saw guide.
@21stcenturycaveman33
@21stcenturycaveman33 4 года назад
To be honest, I would normally do that but as my confidence is growing with the saw I can now get pretty good straight lines without a guide rail/track. They will give you perfect cuts though for sure. Take care, Des

Yes it would if you use a decent outdoor paint. You would need to pay particular attention to the edges though as they are most susceptible to water damage. Best wishes, Des

Love this series, I’m so grateful for it! I’m at the stage of putting on my 18mm osb3. Wanted to ask if it’s held up ok with the decking screws? I’m planning on doing the same but most people seem to use ring shank nails for the improved shear strength. Would much rather use the decking screws though as I have an impact driver but not a nail gun.
@21stcenturycaveman33
@21stcenturycaveman33 3 года назад
Hi there. The decking screws are absolutely fine. Don;t concern yourself if being used on a similar build to this - they'll be fine. Des
