I lucked into a box of self-sealing Tyvek envelopes that were going to be tossed because the sealant dried out and thanks to your tutorial, have been having a blast turning them into beads. Thanks!!
Thank you so much Those beads are stunning and gorgeous too. I really really love ❤️ how you made them. I really really love ❤️ the added wire and beads too. Please stay safe and well too xxx Mags
OMG!!!! I love this idea! Do you know how many of these Tyvek envelope's that I got through the mail that I threw away, UGH!!!!! Now I know why to save them and what to use them for! Thanks, I can't wait to make some awesomeness beads with your awesome idea!
They are so beautiful I really enjoyed the tutorial and I'm going to make some myself. I have Tyvek sheets, we don't get tyvek envelopes in the UK 🇬🇧, which is a great shame ☹️🙁😕 thank you so much for sharing this with me
Mags Nash I’m in the U.K. too and purchased a polyurethane postal envelope from my local PO for 85p. Painted white side in metallic acrylics, cut it up as Mark showed and have made a few beads already. NB. I tried it on a piece of dowling and it keep sticking to it. Tried using the wooden skewer and it came off better.
Everyone needs to be very aware that using new USPS envelopes in a Federal Crime. If you are going to use a large amount of Tyvek go to your local building supply and by a narrow roll of it. Or stop by a building project and see if you can get some of the end cuts for free. There are dozens of uses for Tyvek.
What happens if they get wet? They are beautiful but I'd be concerned if I were to use as charms, I'm afraid it might disintegrate if it gets wet. Can you shed some light?
Normal wear and tear should be fine unless the bracelets soak in water; however, you can definitely add a waterproof sealer to your beads if you want to be double sure.
Its called a heat gun. You can get one from craft stores like michaels, joann, or even home depot. Its a lot like a blow dryer but without all that air -- it just heats. SUPER great tool to have in the craft room.
