Thank you so much. I ended up using 1/4C melted crayons with 1/4C white glue. I didn't have any issues melting the glue in; However, I was using a microwave to heat the wax. This worked out perfect for a furniture project.

You can also use a microwave for wax, you can use it on a lower heat setting

I'm thinking one of those wax or oil scent warmers would work (either type - light bulb or candle) for melting and keeping your mixture melted as you blend this up. (Or even a fondue or sterno pot)

Just wondering why you need to heat it, I used a bees wax shoe conditioner and mica powder and mixed it together with a pallet knife on a glass sheet and it works just fine and it doesn't come off, I dont heat set it at all. I've tried it mixed with glue but it didn't work as well.

Great tutorial, thank you for sharing!! About how long is the shelf life of the pigmented wax? Do I need to use it all right away or can it be stored in an air tight glass mason jar?

I just watched this video. I must have missed when and how much Minwax you added. So frustrating.... I ff and rewound to find it. It would have been so much easier to have a recipe posted. If you read my comment please tell me. Also do you have to use the heat gun after applying to furniture? I'm confused?? Thank you

This person talks around several ways. I got lost. I didn't ever see minwax on hers. This one stated only beeswax and clear glue..

So I tried this with all the correct ingredients but it kept getting so firm it wasn't really usable (even after remelting and adding more mineral oil) so I put it all in a crockpot and melted it back down and now it seems to be ruined. The pigment is gumming up and won't stay dispersed. Very frustrating as I started using it on a wall that I may not be able to finish.

Oh good to know! I LOVE the waxes and I have a melting pot. I just need some bee wax on hand if ever I need to make some of my own wax. What other things do you use your DIY wax on? I do have minwax too. Your clear glue said washable, does that make a difference? tfs xoxo

Hello, great question, but wax is not the same as patina. It can give the effects of patina look but it's not the same.

I’m a wood turner and carve designs in the wood. I want the wax inside the cuts and not on the surface of the wood. How would I take it off the surface but leave it in the designs? Bye the way great tutorial, I’ve even looking for this content for awhile now.

Before finishing the wood turning, rub the gilding wax into the cuts and cracks.. wait to dry then finish the turning.

Yes and it also helps bond to the object you rub it on.

This is the list I wrote down: 1/2 cup beeswax 1-4 teaspoons of mica podwer/pigment 6-7 teaspoons of mineral oil 1-2 tablespoons of clear glue She said to keep testing after you add the wax to make sure there is no rub off residue after you heat set your test swatch. If you have residue, add more clear glue.

If you mean how long does it take for the wax to dry on the surface you apply then not much time. What I do is apply and heat set it with a heat gun and it dries up pretty quickly. I had my waxes for over 2 years so it lasted a long time on the shelf.

I am sorry you are on lockdown. I tried the white glue and yes it was harder to mix, but give it a try. Some glues are easier than others . Try a small batch and test it. The glue acts as the bonding agent. If you have gum Arabic try that also in place of the glue.
