you can use 2 small magnetic sheet cutouts and paste one on each side to close the shell....well i tried the heart and necklace both and they were awesome....thanku for teaching so nicely and clearly
Wow!!!! This is by far the best video on how to make the Moana necklace! I absolutely love how accurate it is to the animated one! I made the pendant and heart from another video but wasn't able to get the shell part to look like an actual shell, but now I can make another one and get it to look like it thanks to you. You are so creative and you did a great job! Keep up the good work! Oh and THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR SHOWING HOW TO MAKE THE STRING NECKLACE PART!!!! The girl in the video I used never showed how to make it. Also she used those round velcro dots to hold the heart to the pendant and to keep it close. THANKS AGAIN!
Thank you for this! Your tutorial was so helpful for me. The only changes I made were to use two spoons to shape the clay, and baked the spoons along with the clay because my first try with the foil and egg kind of failed. I used dark blue glitter fimo clay with turquoise, and before I baked the white part I tapped it all over with an old toothbrush to give the rough texture of the shell's outside. I then varnished the blue part. Sharing in case that's useful for anyone! I tatted the necklace strings.
This was so helpful. I made my necklace and am ready for Disneyland...I glued on little magnets on the bottom of my shells to close them. I needed 4 but you can't really tell. Thank you!!
Awesome video! I can't believe I'm just now finding your channel. I know I'm late to the party, but when I made mine I just went out and bought metal clasps for making lockets in the jewelry section of my craft store. Hope this helps!
I don't know if you already find a solution, but with two small, strong magnets you will make it snap perfectly. Thank you for this video, I was looking for a tutorial for Moana's neclklace for a while... I like the way you explain it and how you did it. I subscribe and like it!
i'm in the uk, I just looked up hemp cord, but hwta thicness is yours, I think the thiner the better. There is also something called hemp twine but that's expensive for some reason and looks more like string. Some say waxed hemp, is yours waxed?
have you tried t glue on tini magnets with superglue or e6000? if im going to make this, wich i sure will, i'm gonna search for the tiniest magets i can find. i hope i helpt you with this. i love it btw that you made sure it could open for the heart. i havent seem that before.
My 7 year old daughter has been obsessed with your Moana videos. Can you pleas sell me one for her?? The necklace and the heart. This would make her so happy!!! I hope you read my message and get back to me ASAP. Thank you so much!!!
Hi! I have a question about the white outer part...maybe I missed it..did you bake it again to harden it? My daughter loves your necklace! It's very beautiful!
I think I know how to make it close.Have you ever seen a snapback hat do you see the snaps on the back you should probably do those snaps for the necklace
I work with polymer clay everyday I have on line shops. I don't think magnets would be safe enough so you don't loose it. If it was me I'd of baked a little clasp in. But I'd still go with some kind of clasp As you don't want to loose it.
I just made one, and went to use small magnets. However they DID NOT work. They didn’t stay in the clay. I tried baking them into the clay, as well as hot glue
have you tried a snap lock clasp? www.firemountaingems.com/itemdetails/h20a9986fn this one looks like one part, but if you separate and attach to each side of the locket with glue (ideally, you would have baked them in the clay?!) it might hold it shut and still allow you to open it!!
