Love the video.. As I get older I find putting my motorcycle on the center stand a little more difficult, years ago when some manufactures had small fold out handles AKA BMW this was less of a problem..so my solution and as I ride alone was to install the right passenger peg on the left side of the motorcycle in place of the one that’s normally there and now I have a sturdy fold up handle to aide me in hoisting the bike up on the center stand..

For the last trick, instead of zip locks I always carry a thick microfiber car drying towel on the bottom of my bike panniers. Comes in handy to dry the saddle if it gets wet, and on cold mornings I lay it in front of my chest inside my jacket for a very warm layer that really works well.

Plastic bags works best because if you cannot blow air through them, they will keep you warm. The air pockets created with ziplocks keeps a warm pocket of air for insulation from cold temperatures.

Two hacks for staying warmer... I live in Oregon and thus ride in the cold and very heavy rain. I have found that if you use a bath towel as a scarf, you can hang it over your neck loosely (don't tie a knot) and stuff the ends down the front of your jacket thus insulating your breast very efficiently while also keeping the wind out of that gap between your helmet and your collar. downside to the towel is that this won't work in the rain. When it is raining, I simply fill a flat plastic water bottle (a slim plastic flask is preferable, you can use a shampoo bottle if you manage to get one that wont leak) with hot water and stick it in the front pocket of my cut. The Heat from the water bottle fills the whole coat and keeps my torso toasty without impeding my movement, plus I can drink it after it cools down. I've also found that it's a good idea to keep a light plastic raincoat (the kind with sleeves not a poncho) in the saddlebag in case you forgot to bring weathers. They come in xxl so you can pull them over any light protective gear. I've also found foldable waterproof boot covers in the cyclist shop. They fit in your vest pocket, keep the water out of your boots, and still allow your rubber soles to make contact with the pavement so you don't loose control of anything. Additionally, If you're riding in the city, bring a hairdryer so you can warm up and get even dryer when you arrive at your destination. I also like to use the dryer to preheat my gear.

Much more with the KLR please, many of us are bucks down but still love to ride dirt oriented adventure and road as well. With the right mods a KLR can spank most any GS off road and still is good enough for 75 MPH all day and you can buy 3-6 of them for the price.

The ladder hack is interesting... I wish all bikes were designed with the same forward thinking (in terms of maintance) as my old Royal Enfield. On the center stand, the front wheel is off the ground so you can do whatever work you need to on that. The rear wheel connects to the sprocket with no tools, allowing you to remove the rear wheel without removing the chain. Simply pull out the axle and spacer, remove two bolts at the rear fender and the whole fender pivots upward and the rear wheel can then pop to the side and roll out. Once the rear wheel rolls out, the change in weight makes the whole bike pivot forward to rest on the front wheel. No jacks or stands needed at all.

I honestly wish I knew about the zip-loc thing in South Dakota. I bought a Hot Leathers jacket in Sturgis during the winter for half off. 5 sizes larger than normal, so I can wear either armor or insulation under it. But there's been a few times where I ventured out without either, and nearly froze to death. You could easily pack a box of half sandwich bags and stuff them everywhere for an emergency. But I now have an Eddie Bower down jacket that stuffs into its own hand pocket that I leave on the bike in the winter.

I found a "hack" that really works for keeping smell & bacteria down. I've used the for about a year and it's great. I spray Febreze air (yes "air" freshener) on my do-rag. I'm not concerned about my hairdo, but I hate taking the liner out of my helmet for cleaning. I wear one every time I put my helmet on. The Febreze (I like "Gain" scent for whatever that's worth) keeps my do-rag smelling like springtime for a month or so of riding a few times per week. After every wash dry, I spray both sides of the do-rag lightly with the Febreze and let it dry a few minutes. Voila - no more bad smell. This summer I started doing the same to the inside of my motorcycle jacket (textile Coretech Air) - all inside panels, then down and up both sleeves. I have found no downside, even spraying the soft neck and cuffs seems to have no downside. This stuff is AMAZING! Try it.

Having a neck scarf thing and two layers of shirts u der your jacket makes a big difference. Also, having winter gloves. Heck, throwing you liner and shirts in the dryer before heading out means your body doesnt have to warm it up, just maintain the temp. Also, order some crap on amazon. They package stuff with those big air pouches, use those for a one time trip.

Neck scarf celebration: I'm all in. On the beach at Puerto Vallarta, vendors march up and down, hawking all kinds of stuff, including 4'x5' scarves. I knew immediately when I saw it what mine was going to be used for. As shear as it is, it wraps twice around my chest and shoulders, layer-upon-layer, like a shawl, and then gets tucked up to my throat and chin with my helmet strap. Just what the doctor ordered to keep the chill off. Dries fast when wet, too. The snappy color accent is an art-skool-approved bonus to the look of my leather jackets. Looks very Red Baron trailing in the wind, as well. Gear in the dryer in winter? Try putting your helmet in the freezer in August. Man, that's nice, too!

Nothing is more comfy than using a damp helmet hood who didnt get dry from the last rainy bike trip and while the bike heats up you start to think about shrinked tribal heads. 😀

Ha! I thought I invented the ziploc bag thing. I kept a 1 gallon bag in my backpack. Probably works about as well as the 6 but much faster and less awkward. Saved my bacon on some late night, late season rides on my naked SV!

I use Fabreeze antibac on my gear every couple of days keeps them fresh and If you go up a size on the jacket you can fit moto Armour underneath.

What you need to do is to, spray your gear with isopropyl alcohol I usually do it after every one or two rides, Haven't had any issue, and the vinegar portion works as well.
