F9 (Ryan) is very enjoyable to listen to; his video clips. Albeit: gear, bikes, safety tips or common sense ideas. His success comes from his demeanor of a balanced well delivered message. His approach is absent of aggressive, non essential adjectives or misleading subjective rhetorical marketing language. I can, as well as all others out here in cyber space appreciate his reviews. His creative side can be , well, goofy-corny....... but its all good and relate to get the point of emphasis across. Go Ryan!!

Much better for taller riders than a Bolt. Same belt drive for no chain maintenance. I would repaint the gas tank and add knee grip pads. Remove the side number plates, and add handmade brass triangular shaped covers. Or just move up to a Yamaha Tracer 900 or 900GT.

What is the chance you will render the videos as actual 21:9 instead of rendering it at 16:9 by adding black bars at the top and bottom with 21:9 video? The thing I hate the most is watching a 21:9 video with black bars added to make it 16:9... Full-screen just means bars on the top, bottom, and sides because of this which kills my desire to watch the video

Man, is no one going to mention the homage to Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels here?! I bought one of the first SCR950's to ship to the US, I work at a dealer and have been working the same side of the argument from the beginning. A scrambler is a horribly inappropriate converted cheap simple street bike that looks and sounds cool as hell, and makes you feel like a hooligan. You are exactly right, modern "scramblers" just turned into dualsports and adv bikes. Revzilla dropped the ball on their review calling the SCR an underperforming parts bin special while riding around in the sand treating it like a wr250r. The bike has character and style, and mine also has completely rubbed down peg feelers and a skidplate so dinged up by rocks metal polish no longer helps. It's not particularly fast, very heavy, has painful ergonomics (muh shins) , no special electronics, a roar to set off car alarms as you stroll buy (thanks vance and hines) and it's hilariously bad at dirt riding. I love it. And it was so cheap by the time I get half way to wearing out it's indestructible cruiser vtwin I'll have money to buy another. Cheers.
@dougiequick1
@dougiequick1 5 лет назад
An alcoholic might have character and style too, but at the end of the day? Just another drunk. Personally? I don't get it ...A.lot of things in motorcycling I don't get though so maybe it's me. I don't get harley's either or cruisers for that matter....I don't get 700 llb adventure bikes with knobbies. ....I have to admit being attracted to one impractical genre or at least the concept .. idea of a "tracker" style bike ...which I realize I would probably not like if actually ever bought one....they just look cool as hell and I fantasize sliding one on fire roads ....if I HAD to buy a "scrambler"? I'd buy a "tracker" and pretend it's a scrambler ...one thing though. I dont care what anyone thinks I would have a front tender on it!

I also got one of the first SCR’s (California Model too). 20,000 miles and bulletproof reliability. I road it across the county and back. It’s my preferred commenting machine. I ride it basically wide ope 80% of the time. It’s definitely not fast but will pull the wheel up with a little bit of clutch finesse. Lol It rips, makes you feel like your tearing up the road. My peg fellers are long gone... For the price you can’t beat it... Its just such a classic, standard motorcycle. If you wanted a brand new bike but only wanted to pay $4000. This is exactly why you would expect. Seriously you can go by a “New” 2017 with zero miles for like $4000 dollars in mid-west America. How could you beat that?!

Bloody fantastic vid. As an owner of an SCR950, I'll stand a little taller now. And when my Conti Trail Attack 2 wear out, it's back to knobbies for me. I went to the dealer in 2017 to purchase an NOS 2014 CB1100 for an amazing $7800. Standing right next to it was the SCR with a hand written placard, "$3999". I told the salesman, "Never mind, I'll take that one". I know I would have liked the 1100 Honda more, but really, a 950 for $4k? With the money I saved I purchased a Kuryakyn velocity stack with K&N filter, a Power Commander, and an Akarapovic pipe. I recently added a Motea parcel rack. My only real complaint it the instrument - the chrome bezel has no place anywhere the sun shines, and the fact that the well sharpened right foot peg is slicing up my jeans and boots.

Erm... my Ducati Scrambler 1100 shits on that monstrocity. Let's be real, today's scramblers are not designed for off road. They're pretty echoes of a time we can't faithfully capture in our modern world. Like roller skating or drive-in cinema. In that case, I say buy the bike that moves you most. The europeans have got that in spades 😉

I think this is one of those Bikes that will Not teach you the Body of Motorcycling but it will teach you the Heart, motorcycling is Not about who has the fastest Bike, who can get His knee down the Most or who has the Most expensive Gear... I come from germany where all the young Riders either have 25cc, 50cc, 80cc or 125cc... We tend to have more fun than the "real Riders" who think being a proper Motorcyclist is either about having the fastest Supersport or the Most expensive Adventurebike that will never even See a dirt Road... We have cheap Bikes with 15 horsepower at max. Ive Seen a YZF-R125 Beat a DT125 Offroad. For us it doesnt Matter If you Ride a Vintage 50cc 2 Stroke or a modern 125cc Supermoto... We are Family, we ride only for Our own enjoyment and Not to Feed our ego's. when i get a Bigger Bike i Wish i can get an XT500 (Always Been my dreambike together With a certain Vintage 50cc Bike) but this Bike i also Love. I can See me and my Friends reflecting in that. I can See all the laughs and Joy the Rider will have when owning this Bike... This isnt Just a cheap Cash Grab to Feed the hipsters... This is Motorcycling at its purest. This is... Art

No discussion of scramblers can be held without mentioning The Godfather of them all, the 1967 Norton P11/1968 P11A Ranger which dominated desert racing for years.

Recently I have studied the Ducati 800 Dessert Sled and the brand new 1100 Scrambler .. very nice bikes .. but the Indian FTR-1200 smokes them @ 123 HP .. In 2021 I think Harley will have a Scrambler out that will be heavier and cost way more than the Yamaha ..

I had a TR1 for many years, and it is deffinately not a Harly copy, it is a HRD Vincent copy... Where I live, it is called the Plastic Vincent. Just look at at the rear suspencion, and the engine as a part of the frame. But I like your channel a lot, appreciate your efford, and always feel both intertained and have learned something when I watch it. ;o)

"Tease a 6th gear that doesn't exist" If that's not the most accurate statement about scramblers I've ever heard, I don't know what Is!

This bike came out in 2017, it's nearly 3/4 the way through 2020 and Australia STILL hasn't got it yet...

Great production, cool angle, neat insights and on and on, but be careful. Topping your last ~bit~ may become more important than good art. Geez though, fantastic stuff. S

These videos are timeless. I watch them ALL regardless of date and have never been disappointed. My only regrets are always disposable income..........

Great video, as always. Top quality. I think the comma in the subscribers counter should be at least 1-2 digits to the right. I bought a slightly used SCR950 this year. No regrets. I like the way it looks, i like the way it sounds and i just love riding it. Sitting position is "confusing" at first, but you get used to it pretty quickly. After 6k+ miles in two months i have to say that this is my favorite bike so far.

The production, and in fact the writing, in this video is stellar. Easily as good as anything BBC Top Gear produced when they were at the top of their game. Bravo!

The writing, man! The writing is amazing! Keep up the good work. This is the third or fourth time I've watched this and I finally understand what you're saying. The other times I watched I was too impressed by the cinematography and editing to get the gist of the story.

The well-researched, informative, valuable reviews aside, it's been very enjoyable watching the writing, production quality, and presentation on your content mature. I especially like the move toward centralized concepts, like the card motif in this video. You have a talented team; keep up the good work.

This has got to be my favorite video on this channel. It's not the topic most relevant to me: even now that I know what "scrambling" is, it's not for me. Rather, it's the conceit of the video, and the polish, and the way the info is dressed that instantly draws me to this particular storytelling gem of an informational motorcycle video. What a fantastic watch!

I love the my Yamaha SCR950. The trick is buying it super cheap since no one wanted them. Never bought a new cycle so bloody inexpensive. Most people believe its an old re-conditioned 70's style Yamaha, I just let them think what they want.
