How to make a Murphy Bar with Krylon® Brand that will light up your patio! This simple to make Murphy Bar is a cabinet that folds down to form a table. Built in wine glass storage and shelves for other necessities are easy to include or modify. I finished the project with the new Krylon® Outdoor Décor in Satin Rainwater and Satin White Cloud. Krylon Outdoor Decor paint drys quickly and is rain ready within 1 hour. It also resists fading, peeling, and cracking. Here is a link to check out the pains. bit.ly/2tzPcP9

Plenty of these on the interweb - this is the best I've seen so far. Thanks Pete. Would probably use joinery rather than pocket screws, but then I'd be doing it in my own time with no commercial constraints (a luxury I doubt you have!). Given me plenty of ideas, just need to find some affordable wood!!!

Thanks! The info about the hinges was especially helpful. I'm planning to help my friend build something like this for his kitchen. He has very limited space & re-built a wall where one had previously been removed. The wall has open stud pockets & when I was looking at it and discussing how he wanted a little breakfast area, I suggested a murphy table and started looking up plans for building it. He'll just have a regular plain top (possibly with some sort of epoxy or waterproof laminate on top) and an X in the middle of the table leg. He doesn't need a full box built since we have the stud pocket so I'm trying to figure out how much of a frame he will need for it & what sort of latch(es) will be needed to secure it. One challenge is that his fiance is only 5' so I'm thinking two latches on either side at a height she can reach might be good instead of a top latch.

Awesome build! i think you should build a small compartment for the led power supply and run the wires from the back. also, if you could please recommend a pocket hole tool.
@DIYPETE
@DIYPETE 7 лет назад
Thanks Roy! Great idea! I did end up running the wires behind, and will build a little compartment per your idea. As for a pocket hole tool - there are a few out there. I know Harbor freight has a cheaper one ( I think around $60 or so ) -- I use the Kreg Jig K4 - I bought mine about 4 years ago and love it. I use it a lot and it's held up well. Here is the affiliate link: amzn.to/2eHxJiV - or you can find them at most Home Depots for around $99 typically. Cheers!

That's really cool, but I'm not a drinker. But the ad beneath is showing the same concept being used for a desk, which is something that I could do with this instead. Or I'm thinking it could be used for a planting station and storing gardening equipment.

Hey Pete great video.. I see you use ryobi products alot, is that your favorite brand or is there something else you prefer? Just curious...
@DIYPETE
@DIYPETE 7 лет назад
Hi Miguel! I will say that I have an affiliation with the Ryobi company and so I do use their tools in my videos for the most part. I feel Ryobi does make great tools - especially for the price point. If you are looking for a more heavy duty tool as a contractor and such --- I'd recommend looking into Ridgid, Milwaukee, Dewalt, and other contractor grade tools. For my audience Ryobi tools are affordable and work well. I've been impressed with their innovation the last couple years and the improvements in quality. I do use Ryobi for my projects and they've been solid tools. Let me know if that helps. Cheers!
