Great summer idea. Such a fun project you made them! I just washed mine in washer with 1 cup bleach and then dryer. Boring lol. But same result. TFS.

After watching at least 8 of the same videos, thinking who the heck would seriously hang Drop cloth as curtains . I really have to say you really impressed me to the point I would use your method. Your curtains look so perfectly done, evenly spaced,so carefully pressed and super white. Great job. Those look great. 👍👍👍

I’ve heard recently from sooo many IGers and bloggers that the drop cloths are not bleachable (or no longer bleachable) :(. I’m so sad I missed that opportunity. I’ve had many others suggest the IKEA white curtains - not to bleach, but just to hang & enjoy. Not sure what the cost might be (I have a lot of windows to cover, like 15-20 and most of those are all double or triple windows or sliders) but I think IKEA is probably still more cost effective than almost all others. Might not be quite as inexpensive as drop cloths but probably second best thing. These curtains look totally amazing though and sooo soft and dreamy !!!😍. Cannot wait to brighten up my home with some light, white curtains:)

Drop cloths have to be 100% cotton in order to bleach well. I was so sad I went to HD to get a drop cloth and it says nowhere on the package the materials. I had to open it only to realize it’s a blend of cotton, acrylic and other synthetic materials. I just decided to use it to make other items.

Sadly, you're correct. I purchased drop cloth from lowes and Homedepot and neither of them will bleach. I got on here to see what I was doing wrong, but everyone is doing almost the same thing I did, and it no longer works. I guess they don't make them out of cotton no longer as the poster said. I am so sad about it!!!

I've been looking for how to do this for some time but very skeptical after I've read a online review. Did these change color or turn out creamy white instead of white and also did they shrink after this whole process? Just asking since reading the review online said that many diyers and youtubers don't give reality to how these really turn out.

I would wet the cloth 1st to get an even coat of bleach.

They look nice, but you don't say how long to soak them for or how much vinegar to water...or how much water with the bleach.

wouldnt it been easier to just do this all in the wash,, there should be a soak sycle on the wash machine, ALOT LESS TIME ON YOUR BACK. they turned out nice, i am going to go get these and get the curtain hook clips also, and hang my curtains

Hi Leah! Yes, you can certainly do the whole thing in the wash - I just have younger kiddos and my laundry machine is right off my kitchen, so I didn't want my whole house to smell like bleach. But lots of people do it in the washing machine to save a little effort!

You can also do this in your top loading washing machine, which i would have to do because i cant do all that out side bending lifting and hanging at age 78 :-)

In the end, the video shows that the curtains used to be black and then turned white. Seriously? So why at the beginning of the video, you put in the leach a white curtain with packed marks?

Oh, no - I'm sorry! Those were my old dark brown curtains. I was just showing that before I had these dark brown curtains that I hated, but I was able to update my curtains using these drop cloths that I bleached. The drop cloths start out a creamy color and bleaching them makes them quite a bit softer and a little brighter.

@@OurHandcraftedLife thats a bit disappointing the video makes one think you turned the dark brown / black curtains white. Now to go put my bleach back under the sink aaaand bummed. I have some old 80's curtains that are multicolored and wanted to turn them off-white or white, prob not possible.
