Here is another video of how to make the popular Folded Fabric Star, based on Scandinavian Paper Folding tradition. ENJOY!
(4) 4" x 16" strips of fabric or (4) 3" x 14" strips of fabric. Both work well.
I have used Original Morris & Co. fabric for this demo
Strawberry Thief (Red) and Marigold (Green)
Thank You!
Michael

Thank you so much! I had cut the fabric and tried to make the star with another RU-vid tutorial and was in tears as I could not figure it out. Your step by step instruction, in particular, the box set up was what made a difference for me! I really appreciate it as I plan to make at least 10 of these stars this year as part of Christmas gifts!

Check out the Moldavan star which starts the same way but with nearly 50% longer srrios which are used to make 3D points, 4 on the front and another 4 on the back. Not so easy to store but can you can use paper or ribbon, even florist ribbon, for both. There's even a sewn one that used quilting methods to stitch shapes together but I only found part 3 where she was assembling the star slowly. Now that Chrustmas has just past, I've hit a rich vein of Chrustmas crafts on RU-vid!

@michael.quilts 7 месяцев назад
Good point! I probably was not even thinking about it when I filmed this a few years ago. I see that some of mine that I have made are not consistent, but if I were to film this again, I would probably put the double folds facing inside as I arrange the strips into the square "hashtag" formation. However, the final product really looks fine however they land - perhaps more professional looking though if you are mindful of that fold. Good tip! Thank You!

Where is the lengthwise fold...on the inside of the box or the outside?
@michael.quilts
@michael.quilts 6 месяцев назад
It doesn't make a difference how you start with them. In the video I see that mine are not all consistent. What you will find when you are finished is that the star points all have a double fold on the inside, no matter how you start and the outside of the star points do not have a fold.
