I did this once before and it didn't come out how I liked but I still wore it. I don't think I crossed over right. Thanks for sharing this video, I am going to try it again.
Thank you! This is exactly what I was looking for! I am transitioning from wearing pants to wearing skirts. I didn't want to get rid of perfectly good pants. I love the way you did the panel in the middle. It is so hard to find modest denium skirts in stores. Quite often they will be long enough, but a have a huge slit in the back. Your description on how do to this project was clear and well described. I am going to take a look at your other videos! Keep doing what you are doing!
This is a good way to look at order to do this project. I hand stitched mine oh brother, but other than that you are right and I had fun watching this video. You have a great and blessed day. 🙏
I like the crease on the front too! it gives your skirt character! Excellent tutorial! I have a lot of jeans I want to do this for my daughter, and this is perfect timing!!!
As always a great tutorial, Niler. So professional! You make everything look so easy to do. I love the way you cut fabric , so quickly and it is perfect! I love your tutorials. :)
I touch them up, but I take them to the local repair shop for the big sharpening.. Hi Martha, you can add gussettes to each side to give her the fabric that she needs. I cut my gussettes in a triangle style especially if no fabric is needed in the waist. Hope this helps...thanks for asking! Niler
That was fun to watch. I have seen jean skirts done that way before and wondered how I could change the design some. Lace inserts would be fun too. You make it look so easy.
Yes I am. I'm recovering from a major surgery and a near death experience that landed me in ICU for a week after the surgery. I have a few more weeks of recovery and I will be back making videos. Thanks so much for asking.
Amazing job! I am excited to hit the store and find my pair of men's trousers to transform to a wonderful skirt! Thank you for a great tutorial and fantastic idea. Shelly
I'm so new to sewing...and I love how you explain things so well. I'm looking forward to starting projects. Thanks for taking the time to make these videos.
This is exactly the style I was looking for!!! Thank goodness for you, you made it look so easy, now I hope it will be that easy for me I haven't been at my machine in years for anything but crafts.
Thank you, thank you, thank you!!! Your video showed exactly what you need to do! I started this project without looking anything up and became confused as how to sew the seams. I’ve had my Jean to skirt project sitting for 6 months!!! And tomorrow I’m going to finish it! Tara 😊
This is by far the best tutorial on YT; I have watched several but this one makes me feel confident to do a sew along. I like how you didn't veer off into any stories or forget that your were recording. I'm trying this soon and will let you know what I come up with! Great job~ Thumbs up definitely
I know exactly what you mean. I hate it when creators give a lonnnnng drawn out story about "nothing". I never want my videos to be like that. I'm so glad that you see my videos as straight forward and to the point. Thanks so much for watching and for the very nice comment!
Thank you for your detailed video! I have always been afraid to attempt this challenge! Thanks to your video, I am ready to tackle this project. I LOVE skirts made out of jogging pants material! They are so comfortable. I am ready to create! Again, thanks for sharing! Happy Holidays!
you made this look so simple! I've been searching a simple way ti make skirts and use up some of the many blue jeans I have. Thank you so much! blessings everyone!
Niler Taylor your so welcome! I shared w some friend's and they loved this as well. We're planning a skirt making day! Will be so much fun lol. Blessings to y'all!
Thank God there is people giving this kind of tutorials I have a couple of jeans I was going to throw away but I decided to find this videos to help me recycle them and have more skirts in my closet. I'm pentecostal and sometimes it's hard to find nice jean skirts at the store, thank you very much and God bless!
Thank you so much for this tutorial. I followed your lead and made a really cute skirt for Homecoming at my church! We are having a college theme. Now I have a skirt to compliment my alma mater T shirt! AGGIE PRIDE!
Thanks for this video.... I love the tip on removing the previous stitching... My cousin has a denim skirt made from old jeans and an african print fabric and I have been dying to make something similar for myself.... This video will be very helpful.
Hi Dee, thanks for your question. A lot of times I will sew over the pins, but I DO NOT RECOMMEND IT! The reason I do not, is because if you are not skilled enough to know "how" to sew over the pins, they can break a needle and send the pieces into your eye. Please remove the pin just before you start to sew over a particular section, as a safety precaution. Hope this has been helpful...Happy Sewing!
You're right ,happy sewing. Well I'm getting ready to go in my closet and get all of the jeans I can't wear anymore and reverse them into skirts. Thank you for the tutorial. I would like to thank my grandma and my 8th grade teacher, teaching me how to sew on a sewing machine
Awesome video, was just asking today how to turn pants to a skirt. Your videos are awesome. I just did the DIY gift box tutorial for mother's day gifts a week ago.
I’m impressed. You did a really great job! I’ve seen many ppl try this and it always looks so funky! Yours actually is the nicest I’ve ever seen and would actually wear this myself. That’s saying a lot for me bc I wouldnt be caught dead in all the other ones! They added really nice material the whole 9 yards but they could drip their projects in gold , if it looks lousy it looks lousy no mater how they TRYYYY to dress it up🤣😂🤣
LOL Roxy...I agree. The fabric choice will not make the end result look good if the construction is bad...I'm just saying! Thank you so much for your nice and honest comment..Happy Sewing!
Thanks for your question. Start in the middle of the leg and open up a few stitches. Try to start and pull the stitches to see which direction the stitching will go. Once you find out which way the stitches pull, you will know which end to start pulling the stitches. Hope this helps! Niler
