I also did mine and I love the results. I sprayed Windex before laying the contact paper down to make it easier to move. I had the same matching ugly 70's style backsplash that I decided to do. I found a package of square stick-on vinyle flooring for $6.95 that I put up and it looks so expensive! People thought it was real and couldn't believe what I used and what I paid. Just wish I would have done it sooner.

I would take clear caulk around the sink so mold doesn't grow under the seam! But I love ot!

I’m going to be honest here. I wanted to hate this, but I love it! I was renting my house out to a so called friend for the past 4 years and she trashed my house, so I have been watching videos on DIY home repairs before I move back in, and your video was suggested to me. Great job!

Get a clear sheet of vinyl to lay over your countertops now. It will be clear & you'll not notice it & it will keep your faux marble/granite countertops clean & in great condition. Keeps them safe from water damage, heat, dirt, etc.

Not bad, for what it is. I would like to make a suggestion, though, to anyone else thinking of doing this: use a roll of paper to make a template to copy onto the back of the peel 'n' stick, cut it out, then place it down. Would be worlds easier. I also agree with others; take the sink out, first, if you can. :)

I have the same kind of countertops as you, and I just contact papered them a few months ago. I didn't know about the water trick, so I had to smooth everything out by hand. My arms were sore for a week, but it was definitely worth it!

For anyome trying this, it may be easier to draw out where your sink is on the back of the stick on, cut it out and then laying it down.

I did a white marble countertop in our master bedroom like this as well. We were also renting, but this is a great way to really transform a space. I love it! I just moved and am looking to do something similar to our kitchen again, but I've never done kitchen cabinets before.... so I'm going to check out that video so get some inspiration! :)

I have watched a ton of different videos on installs like this. You guys did great ! There's no way I would attempt to do it with the sink installed. I took the 30 extra minutes and removed my sink , laid the vinyl/paper and didn't have the headache of trying to install over and around and behind.

It is a temporary wrap so is less durable than actual stone counter tops. So often it would be removed when it starts to rip or peel up. Still a ton cheaper to refinish than to buy actual granite tops.

It looks AMAZING!! Absolutely beautiful!! Hopefully.....a landlord would appreciate the upgrade, be greatful of all he/she didn't have to do and refund your security deposit. If not... shame on them! Keep video of b4 & after, just in case you have to go to court. Thanks for the links (as a homeowner,it's a cheap way out of a full upgrade for resale)! 👍👍

Just saw this. Wondering if you overlapped the paper where the seam (miter) is at the corner. We have a seam too and I can't stand it. One counter is lower than the other so the seam is not even. Hoping shims will help.

Yeah, thats about where i would expect this to be used as an "upgrade". For those fancy people that are "above" using wallpaper, whatever is left over in that old paint can under the porch, newspaper and paste or that old piece of plywood that you kept because "Yewww never know when this will come in handy, but i ay-sure you Nevaeh Angel Siquwanna Shelby Coverdale, it will come in handy. And we will be ready! There is no reason for anyone not to be able to save money, cut out a few expenses that you can live without for a little while, stay focused and look for sales every day and only have to spend a couple hundred to get granite tops instead of any of the tacky, low rent crap people are talking about here. Even an epoxy counter looks a thousand times better and looks like marble instead of the cover of a dollar store binder. Of course if you are dilligent and relemtless, you will find free granite, marble or quartz counter in the sane size you need for your outhouse on wheels that screams, "Married first cousins are procreating here. God Bless America!" You want ultra modern and very expensive looking, high quality and durable and will last many years (as long as you're not a squirter trting to procreate with your kin on the counter tops)? Fasten a bunch of 2×4s together, plane the top and sand it true and square. Seal it and stain to make it look amazing. Its not MDF crap that expands and blows out fhe laminate if it gets wet from spillage or steam. Its an amazing real wood, class and modern looking counter that you can beat on and not worry about the big cracks you make with this glue on crap. And 2×4's are always free on craigslist, it takes nothing to sand an old board to look new and when you can afford that granite top, that wood is already framed and ready for the new top. There's no excuse for people to be desperate and say this crap looks "amazing" or to want to settle forit in their homes.

Laci Jane how is it with clean ups, germs, and knives (not that I would use it as a cutting board but I do cut my kids sandwich with a knife so sharp it cuts the paper towel the sandwich is on as well ). Did it hold up to time?

Yes because it's not regular contact paper. It's made out of the same stuff that vinyl flooring is made out of with 5 layers. So it's very thick!

Beautiful and I love your little Chihuahua. I lost mine last Christmas evening to Splenic sarcoma he was my very best friend and life has been so very hard without him I have three more dogs two are a different breed than the other but there is some thing about a tiny little Chihuahua that just melts your heart and my boy was so very gentle 😩💔😥😥😥

I'm so sorry to hear that you lost your chihuahua last Christmas evening. 💔 Chihuahuas are the best, aren't they.❤ Thank you so much for your kind words. I got so much hate on this video for having her in my video while I was doing a project. I do not regret it one bit, though. My little girl, Keke, shown in the video, will be going to heaven on Friday. She has been so healing to me in so many ways and I'm grateful I have so many great memories with her.
