Thanks Jack, certainly a few people have questioned the validity of using a naca in this orientation, its more just an experiment. Hard for me prove or disprove whether it works without properly monitoring temps sadly.

Please please please solve this debate once and for all! All you need to do is tape a grouping of strings on the duct in and near the opening then place a camera behind it. The direction of the strings should tell us if this is working as intended. And the camera behind shouldn't affect the flow. Thanks!

Thanks mate. When you say "stripping out circuits", are you referring to the wiring harness of the car?

@@Bbeavis Yeah, so like if you are prepping a car for the track and stripping out all kinds of extraneous stuff (e.g., stereo, fans, A/C, seat belt sensors, door sensors, etc.), _if you know absolutely nothing about car electronics_, how do you reason about what to do? What's the role of the fusebox? What happens when a wire I don't need anymore traces back into some giant wireharness full of other stuff that may or may not be important? When do I have to do something special to not F$@# things up vs. when I can just rip something out with impunity, and how do I know that? Like, what things can the ECU run without vs. which will screw things up (e.g., if I remove radiator fan #2 completely...)? I know that if I knew the right principles I could just figure it out, but I'm not sure where to start. I know the 101 of electricity, circuits, voltage, current, resistance, etc., but I don't know anything car-specific. I don't know the right questions to ask or the right things to Google. I selfishly figure others might be in the same boat :) Actually, I guess everything in the vein of "how to track prep a car" would be pretty cool if you're ever looking for ideas...

@@aroundtheworld4785 Oh wow so many things to cover! I guess a lot of that is very specific to each persons own goals with their car, and with their own specific setup. Everyone has their own way of doing things and I cannot say what is the "right" way. For me, mostly i just traced unused wires individually through the wiring harness one by one all the way back to where they hit a connector, or terminated at the factory fuse box, and then cut them out there. Doing it slowly and one by one means I ensure I'm only removing wires that weren't in use. If a wire isn't plugged into anything, then I knew it was safe to remove. I never just "rip things out" without checking they aren't used. I've only done this once, on this car, so I'm no expert!

@@Bbeavis fair enough. That's helpful. Thanks! Regarding NA/NB MX-5s though, what about things that go to the ECU? I'm thinking things like fans, sensors, etc. If I truly don't need them, can I just remove them? Or will the ECU freak out if it can't find, say, the second radiator fan, or the MAF sensor?

@@aroundtheworld4785 Your car needs its sensors to run, don't play with those unless you know what you're doing. "Dumb" things like lights or a fan, it's a just a power wire from a fuse box, and often not a wire back to the ECU, those can usually be removed. But if you don't know, don't do it.

Number 1 priority is a cool looking track car. It ain't fast if it doesn't look cool.

I'm not sure how to give you an answer to this question as the net "lap time" is difficult to measure exactly. What a splitter does do, is provide balance with the rear wing, front end grip, and a very sharp and responsive handling car.

@@Bbeavis , hmmm let me think, the flat bottom, the wing, brakes, splitter mounting, rad ducting.... nope I think that's it. I did ask about the cage once but I think you touched on that when you did the history of the build. O, have you done the diffuser, I can't remember?
