Great video. Thanks. I was looking for help to see why my front LH brakes were dragging after changing the pads and specifics on how the anti-rattle clips were supposed to fit aganst th pads in case they had something to do with the dragging wheel. It turns out that some pad sets have two inner and two outer pads and if you don't fit inners on the inner and the outers on the outer it will cause problems. I had Bendix pads and at first glance the four pads looked the same, so I went ahead and fitted them randomly. However that's where I went wrong. On closer inspection after a lot of head scratching I noticed there was a difference in the rivet heads protruding through the backs of the pads. With two inners on the RH side - no problem. BUT two outers on the LH side caused the problem. The rivet heads were jamming the pistons. Maybe this info will help some of your viewers.
On the drivers side you have put the pads on wrong. The pad with the 2 male dimples in the middle is meant to be fitted to the inside. The outer pad has no male dimples in the middle so it doesn't fowl on the caliper . Have seen many people make this mistake
3:40 I feel like I'm in an alternate universe where no one has heard of the Beatles or the word "fanatic." Why does no one properly pronounce the painfully obvious play Fanatec has made on the word fanatic? Are you all just messing with me? Are you purposely mispronouncing Fanatec as FAN-uh-tech instead of the ridiculously obvious proper pronunciation fu-NA-tech. Is this like how British people mess with Americans by purposely mispronouncing almost every English words? Like herb or basil or aluminum or schedule? (Hint: Herb is a dude that grows 'erb and sells it by the quarter ounce.)
@@Bbeavis might need to reach out to you as I have no clue about it bought it cheap off fb not working could be a easy fix as it was working and then stopped so when I get a hold of it as it’s 300 mile away I will give you a message if that’s okay
Great video. I've called some mechanics and they had no clue. My torsen type 2 started to whine. So I've got to swap it out for a welded and the shafts seem too short. I do have another open to throw in for now or get welded. Even while I get the LSD looked at. Any reason for this? Guessing the welded diff is from an early mk1? But I'm sure it had the rubber guide. Ideally I don't want to swap the half shafts.
Changing fluid on a regular schedule is always a good idea, but not strictly necessary to do so when changing pads. I've not owned a VY so I cannot say - but the process would be very similar.
hey there, i changed my time zone in the dietpi txt file to canada/eastern as per the link to wiki says, i am in toronto. though it wont update the settings and keeps me in 2019, wrong date and time. i cant access internet because of this and cant seem to find a solution, i can connect to internet okay, any ideas?
Buona fortuna.
Do you have or know of a "bare bones basic" version, I'm talking about a simple as possible version that only displays lap times? Just as minimal as possible, something like a GPS lap timer but with a giant display I could mount in my car?
Great vid. I love how construction is different in different parts of the world. Your “garage” has no rear wall! Being from Canada, have never seen something like this. I do like it.
I'm glad something on my channel actually helped someone! That's so funny to me but cool. Just some things that will help: -Put some rubber sheets under the base if you're not bolting it down, it will stop it moving when you drive on (and off). -The motor is 10A, so you can rewire it to use a conventional socket. -If you recess it into the floor, cleaning a fluid spill is a nightmare so install drainage. -If you reverse on you drive off forward so you won't get skid marks on the floor. Doesn't bother me, but just an FYI.
It'll be worth checking the diff oil level since it will be lowered due to the leak. Also, a bit of lube on the sealing surface helps the seal from being burnt from friction. Cheers for making up the seal installer tool design! I printed one of your designs to do my rear main seal. 👍
This stuff was easily available and just needed some trimming to bolt it to the car. Fibreglass would require a lot of work to make a panel, skills/time/space that I did not have at the time.
@Bbeavis I have this setup all working now. Thank you for publishing. Question, is there a way to connect a laptop to the megasquirt while the pi is connect via USB? Similar to TSdash?
I know this is an old video but I have a 2001 5 speed 1.8 VVT with the torsen type 2 I believe. Can I drop in an open diff from another 1.8 NB without swapping axles or driveshaft
Big thanks! Just did this successfully. One quick tip is right click the etcher app on the desktop and run etcher as administrator first. I had to do it that way or it etcher would give an error trying to upload the OS from file. I’m on windows 10 btw
