Welcome back to our DIY Pole Barn Build! In this video we get all of the trusses put up! These are the steel trusses that we got from Southern Style Barn and Fencing in Alabama. Now that we have put the trusses up we can report that they are great trusses and are worth every penny! Great videos! I am in the process of building a 40'x48' pole barn but I am doing it all myself (no help 😞). The trusses I'm using are fairly stout but once they are hung, they are a bear to get even with each other. I'm getting a boom lift delivered today to help with the purlins so I think that'll help me get everything straight and even. Keep up the awesome work!

I followed the entire series, we are about to build a 40x60 pole barn on our 3 acres of land. Do you have plans for this? I would love to see the sizes of materials you used ect.

Hey! Good for you! We do not have plans for this, we just built it. When it is done we will be posting a video though that will include a materials list and pricing for every single thing we used to build it. So that might help. We can make plans for it too, but we just don't have time right now because we are spending all of our free time on building the barn. I hope this helps! Sorry we don't have any plans...

On the gable how do you mount the truss to the 6x6?

Thanks for doing a video on the process. I was curious how you attached the post to your trust on the in-wall? I have a pole barn that already has concrete poured but now I'm wanting to in close it. My plans are adding post for the in walls with plates to attach to the concrete but wasn't sure about attaching it to the trust.

How far do the trusses span? I wanna do a 24’x48’ and have the truss span be on the 48’ length. You place a truss every 12’?

Did you have any problems with the spacing being more or less than the width of the truss so that you had to push a pole toward or pull em together to put the stress in place?

Not really. We used through bolts to tie trusses to 6x6 posts so if the span was out just a bit you could draw them in while tightening up bolts.

@@paulalbares643 if it’s too close because your measurements are off just a bit or the post is warped you can take a long 2x4 and lean it against the post and push. Basically using 2x4 for better leverage. That would be plenty to move the post a couple of inches.

What size/grade bolts are used for joining each side of the truss? What size/grade bolt used for attaching truss to the post.

Hello. Good questions. So hard to remember but I think 1/2 inch grade 8 for joining the trusses together and 1/2 inch galvanized through bolts for truss to post.

Will the boom lift with a 500lb weight capacity work with lifting the trusses? After watching your video I definitely want to go rent one now.

It would for sure lift this style truss. Even with Someone in the basket. Now that being said there was a label on the side of the basket that said not to hoist anything with the lift. … lol
