Great idea! I'm totally with you on the filming side of things - it can sometimes be quite awkward working around a camera. Anything to help is a good idea! I love those LCD controllers. I got a 15" IPS laptop screen a while ago, and got a similar controller board for it, meaning to do the same as you (for the same reason - filming videos, haha) - just not got round to it! The biggest challenge is making a sturdy frame, which is more difficult the bigger the monitor is. Looks like yours is strong enough though! That charger looks pretty useful, particularly because it prevents undercharging. Great video as usual! Looking forward to the second part.

I took inspiration and made one for myself too! Thanks! Instead of fabricating the case from scratch, I obtained a black ABS one that just about fit everything. I'm also using a battery holder for the 18650 cells, rather than soldering it on directly. It's working great!

This video reminds me of the project I started about 12 months ago... We kept getting jobs at work where the customer wanted us to take a keyboard, mouse and monitor to look at headless PCs that weren't working... I gutted a netbook (for a different project) and intended to do a portable monitor with built in mouse (touchpad) and keyboard.... Only got as far as planning. Might go and actually make it now that I'm not working full time.

The XL6009 will not start below 3.5V input, but the cell's voltage can goes down to 2,8V before the protection circuit switches off. We need to use all the capacity of the cells to reach maximum efficiency and long operating time. You need to power the IC from it's upconverted output voltage, but you need also a starter circuit too, which doubles the battery's voltage for some millisecond at powerup to kickstart the converter..

Hello, I have a question from an absolute beginner. I see a lot of projects that add a BMS or BCP in addition to a charger board (lets say fx. TP5000). Does that mean BMS are just needed for charger boards that do not have an under/overcharge protection or are there additional benefits?

This is a great idea! My camera doesn't have the flip out screen, but it does have a wire to connect it to external monitors, although it only works with AV input wires (yellow white and red). I guess I'll have to find something to convert the image to HDMI. Anyways, I like the project, but it looks a bit too thick lol. I think I will build it with a detachable battery pack, and make the frame out of plastic or something lol. Great idea though!
