With a budget of only 150 € !
How will it come? will it be up to it?
Tell me what you would like me to do for you, if I like the idea, I will create it for you!
This is my first project ! the channel is new, just open.

@@timofglazz388 Hi Timof, exactly, 150 is the amount I spent on raw materials, and I spent a lot because I made it in aluminum, if I count the working hours it becomes very expensive. If you make the components with a 3d printer, you can save more money (it is certainly less resistant) but it works anyway. When I started this project, I thought: it seems easy to do! But then I realized that it was more complicated than expected :-).

The time, effort, engineering let alone equipment to CNC, 3 d graphics WAY exceeds coughing up for something ready to go. Few people have the technical skills or understanding to manufacture this rig. I would rather save up and buy something that has been made than spend 500 hours thinking up and solving all these ideas let Alone assembly. Ok, I’m going to point out that you don’t need these exact machines so make something like this. Yes there were a lot of machines used in this that an average person doesn’t have access to, so what? You can use 3d printed parts in lue of machining and still get a wonderful project. Everything else done can be achieved with a drill press and a touch of ingenuity. As per CAD, just get fusion 360 it is free for private use and easy to understand with minimal teaching.This should serve as an idea of what you can do not a gospel truth.

You get a comment from the Pro Flight Trainer Creators... that should make you happy? :-) Its always nice to see others building things from scratch, well, almost from scratch since you do use a Thrustmaster Grip, USB PCB and potentiometers. Others have already commented about all the tools and machinery used, in respect to price tag....; I believe in that perspective you actually make us look very good , and somehow I am actually amazed at how low our price tag is! now a few suggestions for your setup if you don't mind ;-) the Thrustmaster PCB is goanna create some issue for you, namely dead zones (due to firmware design) in the middle section of ranges/axis, which is the most important one for helicopter cyclic. Yyou will have to replace that with either for example a leo bodnar USB Board, or one of our high resolution PCB. It does not look like you will have much friction on pedals, you need some adjustable friction system to simulate flight control response. We use a zone switch firmware to have 3 Chinese hats on cyclic, and 12 buttons. you will need a lot more functions and buttons to use your setup in VR environment. Using geared signal control, when coupling the axis to the potentiometer, will always create some lag and precision issue especially when changing control direction. Try to adjust your design to a "directdrive" one. just a few things we learned over the last 13 years perfecting our products... anyway, nicely done, good work on the machines, and happy landings! PS: and thanks for using our product as a reference! happy to see our product being something used as reference in the industry!

Hi, yes, it is an honor to have your attention. Before starting this project I did a lot of research and I carefully observed the various joysticks and the various products on sale, I also had the opportunity to try different ones, including yours. and I was very impressed, you created a great product, creating a simple structure, but very stable, with a very precise electronics. I have concluded that yours is one of the best I have studied. Yes, I noticed the limitations of the HotasX during the construction, the gear transmission system is to adapt to the limitation of the potentiometer of the hot X (i use half potentiometer to avoid the central dead zone) :-). Yes, I had seen that there are several cards on the market to be able to create a good homemade joystick, but at that point, I had to build everything from 0. My goal was to spend a little, converting an economic joystick with the least possible work. But I realized that there is a lot of work to make a product like yours. I always build different things, it's my passion, but one day I want to make an improved version of this joystick. Thank you very much for your advice, they are welcome.

Indeed, there's lots of stuff in this video I could probably use =) It'll be a wood construction, but if you mix PVA glue and water (1 part PVA to 3 or 4 parts of water) in a spray bottle and then spray a layer over all the wood and let it dry, you get a "plastic" finish that you can gently touch up with fine sand paper (grit 400+) and then paint. :)

Hi Phil, in the description I specified with which equipment you can build it, routers, 3D printers, things that cost very little, 150/200$, affordable for everyone. In the video I show how to reuse the hotas electronics, that is the key to the project, if you want you can also build it in wood with a bit of creativity, I saw a user who made it with PVC pipes .. I used a precision CNC because I have a lab available, if you watched all the video to the end you would have heard it said.

Hello Potrcko Pirot, I'm glad you enjoyed the project. I'm sorry, I don't know if I'll make more video tutorials, I don't have much time to dedicate to videos anymore, it's really a long job! and I'm devoting myself to designing professional joysticks and then selling them on my site. In a few months you will find them for sale on my site for sure, but the price will not be low. www.makinglowcost.com/en/project

Great work! Im a heli simmer that lives in NZ and heli sim hardware is too niche and too expensive. Just an idea and id like your feed back. I already have the hotas you used to make this (not cheap here too) but was wondering if you have considered manufacturing the parts as a self assembly option? I realise that the majority of the work is makeing the parts but as i lack a cnc machine and the technical know how as im sure alot of simmers do it could be an idea to expand the consumer options alot! I already have anti torque pedals that im happy with and i could make the frame myself. If you sold part kits and included online assembly instructions and wireing models it would really increase sales potential. You would have to do the costing youreself and it may not really knock the price down much but i think there would be a massive market with simmers like me who quite like diy and are limited in budget. Would this be viable for you as a buisness model do you think? Thanks. Adam.

Hello adznz11, Yes, I could make a guide, the pieces can also do them with a cheap 3d printer, the point is that there is really a lot of work, I don't know how many people want to build such a thing. We preferred to dedicate ourselves to building our own professional model. If you want more info on how to convert your hotas, I made a longer video where you can see the phases in more detail, I am attaching the link: ru-vid.com/show-UCcepbLzU4X2I9fTe0LHrDsw

@@makinglowcost6709 i think you would be surprised how many simmers would be ok with making there own. It is a passion after all. Also out here in the antipodes everything costs so much and anything that can be done to save costs would be greatly accepted. Assembly isn't as hard as manufacture. Out of interest how much do you charge for your professional model?
@Trigenetic

You can do all this just fine with a drill, no need for the CNC. If you dont have any tools its going to be a bit more than 150 though. Honestly bending the Cyclic pipe is the bitchy part of the project. Ive used, wood, metal, pipes from old stuff etc. Just be imaginative. Can catch a glimpse of my anti torque pedals + my ms ffb2 project here. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-jKwYM-ZzEHg.html

Blimey! It's not really a good idea to extend a joystick's shaft without limiting it's range of movement and/or modifying the way the sensors/pots work or you're going to end up with a joystick that has an excessive range of movement. Also, it seems like that's a LOT of weight and force being applied to a cheap-ass plastic joystick gimbal. If it was me, I think I'd just build a solid pedestal and sit the un-modded joystick on top of it - unless you're prepared to make the required mod's to make it work properly.
@federicoxo7855
@federicoxo7855 6 лет назад
Hi, to change the range of motion use a free software, joystick curves. Regarding the resistance, if you watch the video where I try it, I kick it and use it strongly, I mistreat it a lot, and nothing has broken so far, it is very resistant, despite being cheap. I've been using it since I published the video months ago.
