I’ve heard of doing that! Thanks for the reminder. I still reused to help fill in holes in my back yard. Also dumped it in my compost pile :)

It can be mineral deposits or mold, depending on what the humidity and watering habits are.

I’ve done the same thing with string of hearts (got the idea from Harli as well) and I had some mold grow as well. First thing I did was removed the mold carefully (mold spores spread easily), then I let the moss dry out a little and then I used my Micro Balance EC3 mold killer spray (non toxic) and lightly misted the prop box, moss and SOH. I haven’t had issues since and they are rooting a growing well. I try to make sure I keep the prop box well ventilated which it sounds like you’re doing that well if you keep it uncovered. I will say that I think it’s natural for some of the butterflies to not root and they end up decaying which easily results in mold growth. Hope this helps! I’d love to hear how it goes!
