Here's a more compact DIY canopy version for those with less space, kids and/or pets! ✨👉🏾 ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-m3TjIJPna0U.html
@@almamacarthur3821 i have king size. What size PVC pipes will i need? This is really the best tutorial, other than that. Cannot find a canopy bed with rails for under $ 400 FOR KING SIZE. Its CRAZINESS.
I am so thankful for your video. I am an old widow who wanted to fulfill a childhood dream of having a canopy bed. After pricing canopy beds, I realized that I could not afford this luxury on a Social Security Retirement income. Thanks to you, I can see my life long dream come true. You are a brilliant and resourceful young woman!
Ramona McDaniel this puts a huge smile on my face! I am so glad this video helped you. Thank you for watching and I hope your canopy brings you so much joy 💕
Thank you so much for posting this. I wanted an inexpensive canopy but kept reading concerning reviews on the sturdiness of the lower-end canopy bed frames. With plastic PVC pipes, you don't have to worry about safety if anything falls down and it is easy to disasemble or throw out if you change your mind or have to move. This was a great idea, thanks for sharing! I can't wait to build my own canopy setup.
Omg I love you 🩷 Thank you so much. I was not trying to spend $90, you are a life saver. Perfect video, so simple and straight to the point. I love how your room turned out with the bed canopy, it definitely added some pazazz. 💖
$27.00 pvc material vs over $100 even $200 for just the frame from those companies, that's a lot of savings but also you can even spend a little more and you can use metal or aluminium pipe, there are a lot of options in this days! just check the hardware stores! i can't wait to receive my canopy to start my proyect! but it was a good, fun and informative video to watch that's for sure.
Thank you so much. I just bought a mosquito net (king size) for camping. And instead of using ropes to tied the net to tree branches, i was trying to find a way to do a pvc frame for my camping net. And i found your demo. Thank you as you proved to me it was feasible for a low cost. Merci ! 👍💕
I love you!!!! Thank you! My daughter has a beautiful full size bed, and I wanted to add a canopy to her bed to make it more magical. This frame is saving me from having to buy a whole new bed frame since hers is already so beautiful and "her." I found 9 ft panels of fairy lights on Amazon, so In am going to paint the tubing white and add glitter, hang the lights and a lot more sheers. I can't wait to get this started! You are a genius!
Look the idea of decorating the piping even more. I was thinking of using a metallic spray paint or using painters tape with two colors for a little barber shop pattern.
Thank you guys so much for watching! If you have a moment, please vote for this project to win the Instructables PVC Contest 🙏🏾☺️ www.instructables.com/contest/pvc2017/
Just found your video and channel thank you so much for this true diy!!!! Everybody else was out here with 301 pieces of uncut wood and professional grade equipment and I was like where is DIY?!? This was so simple and turned out beautifully I’m excited to make my own now!!! A million thank yous 😊
Helen Rivers ahh I’m so glad! Would love to see it ☺️ just make sure you secure it to the wall somehow and it should hold up just fine. Thank you for watching!! ✨
When painting pipes, it's actually easier to buy paint in a can and a few pairs of those cheap jersey gloves and stick your hands in the paint and run your hands up abs and down the pipes. It's much faster and the paint is much more consistent without runs! Painting small round pipes with a can of spray paint can be a pain in the butt! 😁😁😥
Thank you so much!! If I may ask, and anyone please answer If you can, how did you stop the two poles that weren't pinned to your wall from being wobbly or falling? was it durable?
I really love what you came up with with your canopy. You did such a good job and it was fun to watch. It looks really fun to make one too. It is beautiful and so are you. Thank you so much. I'm now very inspired thanks to you
If you add a 4 way tee to the head and foot then attache another pipe about 6 inches below the top pipes on all four sides it would have strengthened the entire canopy and made it free standing and easy to move. Plus the double pipe around the entire top would have looked really elegant. Many of the expensive iron canopies have double pipe at the tops for aesthetics.
Think I am going to use a pair of sheers at each corner and tie.. great video... Hope to do this , this coming weekend for my granddaughter and my room!!!
Thank you so much for this tutorial. I didn't wanna have to spend $50 on a canopy frame that I don't know will be sturdy enough. Now I can make my own and save money knowing it will be sturdy enough
Thank you so much for this useful and beautiful DIY with full instructions. When you were jumping around for joy at your measurements being perfect I thought "Maybe I can do this!" Wish you much joy in your DIY!
This is gorgeous! Any ideas on how to make the PVC adhere to the floor better to reduce wobbling? I have them secured to the wall, but the front pipes are wobbly. Thank You!!
99Sharon Awuor you’re so welcome!! Here’s how to make the pipes look like wood for super cheap! Thank you for watching ☺️ ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-m3TjIJPna0U.html
Omg exactly what I am looking for! My small family and I are moving into a shotgun style apartment and we are trying to section off our bedroom area from the front door
Thanks so much for sharing this is really beautiful I just completed my canopy bed for my daughter and I made her day she absolutely loves it we both love it ❤️
Great idea. Looks flimsy though. This one would definitely only be able to support super sheer drapes like shown. Anything heavier would collapse this one. I'd probably use thicker pvc pipe. And I would try to find or make a flared flat bottomed base for the bottom of the support poles for stability.
Holy crap! When I read you used PCV pipes I thought, "this is going to look tacky as Hell." But it looks AMAZING! I'm definitely going to try it for myself!
I'm about to do the exact same thing except I am going to use 2in pipe for the vertical and a cap on top and glue a 90° elbow on top so I can use 1in pvc pipe on top. Im going to use dye to dye a canvas drop cloth brown and then spray paint it brown. I'm also going to paint the PVC pipe Brown , like I mentioned in my above comment using regular paint and a cotton glove to spread the paint on instead of spray painting, spray painting something around is really a pain . I'm going to add grommets and lash it to the top to make a cool canopy for my deck! There is no roof out there or shade. I can't afford to have a roof built, and I can't hang an awning or anything by myself. I'm 55 and not real Handy. I'm handy enough to build a PVC pergola though or canopy however you want to put it LOL. I'm going to use these to attach the canvas Kotap BB-6B Ball Bungee, 6-Inch, Black, 25-Piece www.amazon.com/dp/B00DPLM5YU/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_i_Yat-AbXQ14GR4 they make them in white also if a person wanted a lighter color. I wanted darker to stay cooler and wanted to dye and spray paint to hopefully get more consistency in color and get some shedding of water. I may look to see if there's a product that will cause the canvas to shed the water! Perhaps even in the hunting and fishing department. A lot of times they have stuff that Hunters can spray on to their canvas jackets and heavy canvas hunting clothes to cause them to shed water. I noticed that the tutorials have them pouring Quikrete down the legs of these canopies to hold them down and make them heavy. To me that seems like so much trouble. I don't understand why they don't use water or pea gravel or sand. I would think the Quikrete would just be getting stuck to the sides and such an exercise in frustration trying to get it to the bottom! I'm sure that was a man's idea LOL since I'm just going to have mine up for the summer and probably have to take it down for the summer, I'm trying to think of a way to make it easy to partially disassymble and stick it straight in the attic. I don't use my attic because I had insulation blown in a few years ago. This would be something I could lay the canvas tarp down on the insulation and the pipes on that! It's so light it wouldn't harm the insulation and it could act as it's own tarp to lie it on!
Took some helpful tips from your comment... Definitely gonna add to what this brilliant artist confirmed...I had this idea.. but had doubts . Thank u both.. Really had to read ur advise twice to ensure I wasn't missing anything
Such a great video!!!! Moving into an apartment soon and wanted to do something cute without hurting my wallet and I’m so glad I found your channel. Thank you for sharing!
Thank you for the helping have a lot of sunny windows and non insulated room so I thought of a canopy but with blackout thick drapes to darken. I have a twin bed and want to add a full size canopy to go around nightstands would this material hold a heavier material?
I've always wanted a canopy for over my bed ever since I saw the one at American furniture Warehouse. The one you made is it strong enough to hold plants?
Jackie’s Destinies Manifest thank you!! ☺️ I’d say it probably isn’t strong enough to hang whole plants, but you can certainly add vines, flowers, etc!
Jackie’s Destinies Manifest I made another canopy with vines if you wanna see an example! ✨ ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-m3TjIJPna0U.html
Great tutorial! My soon to be 11yo wants to redo her room. I'm getting her a full size loft bed & this will be the perfect surprise addition! Thank you
I'm curious to know how this held up over time, since it's been a few years. I've been thinking about doing this for a few months and now that I see someone has done it I'm so curious how it lasted. Did it feel flimsy? If you bumped into it did it jostle around and/or fall over? anything you would have done different as time went on, or improvements you made?
THANK YOU SO MUCH for posting this AMAZING video! It's just what I have been looking for! I will post pics once I complete my transformation! 😊 YOU ROCK GF!! 😘
4x 78" 2x 70" 2x 81" Here's why: She got 4x 78", 2x 64", and 2x 76". Note that she added 10" to the width, and 1" to the length. That, I guess, is to leave room to get out on either side. If you only get out on one side of the bed, then you'd only add 5" to the width dimension, instead of 10", as she did. A queen size bed is 6 inches wider and 5 inches longer than a 54" X 75" full-size bed. So you could just add 6" to the width, and 5" to the length of the rectangular prism created by the pieces she bought. And that's why the following are the correct dimensions for doing this with a Queen bed: 4x 78" 2x 70" 2x 81" If you want less overhang over the sides of the bed: 4x 78" 2x 65" 2x 81"
Hilarious. I did the same EXACT thing years back when money was scarce, but tastes were expensive. Lol. I guess I shouldn't say the "exact" same thing, because mine wobbled A LOT. It may be because I had a queen-sized bed, which automatically added inches to the horizontal pipes and because I had tile on the floor. Based on that, if I could offer one suggestion, it would be to weigh down the bottom of the vertical pipes with sand, tiny pebbles, etc. (pretty much anything you can think of). While it may bring the cost up, depending on what you settle for, it'll save the headache of the thing just moving around all the time. Additionally, depending on what and how much material you are going to hang, use joiners (not sure if correct terminology). Even though you don't have joints, when slipped on to the ends and middle of the horizontal pipes, they can add some support. Great job by the way, and wow, did this bring back memories!
Daryl Hawkins great idea!!! I would get a larger piece of netting or mesh and drape it over the top from side to side, then drape another piece over that from back to front. I hope that helps! 😅
