I would also recommend wrapping yourself in plastic wrap. That’s what I usually do when I make my cosplay patterns. That way you don’t waste a perfectly good shirt!
@@Your_Fav_Savvythat’s if you use it wrong. It’s meant to snatch you in, while also being comfortable and able to breathe in. It’s also not recommended to to wear the corset at where you want it to be until you break it in (aka wear it a bunch until your used to the feeing and can comfortably do that). Basically if you’re hurting, your probably doing something wrong or the corset doesn’t fit right and you need to get/make a new one.
This is great!! I made a pattern for a milkmaid dress for this and was able to take the tape off without cutting the shirt (maybe I used a different type of tape than duct tape then? It was thick and grey, maybe electricians tape!)
I'm not sure if that would work but I did something similar to this and instead of using a shirt I cut arm holes and a neck hole into a garbage bag and wore it like a shirt
Ngl this hurt my eyes a little bit. But I'm trained in making patterns and i have to say it's a cute little hack and if it works for you go try it out✨️💯
Ty for this! As someone with unconventional body proportions and being on the bigger side, it's a massive struggle to find corset patterns anywhere that I can use. Even the ones that claim to be size-inclusive don't really have my sizes, which is a bit insane considering I'm on the smaller size of larger sizes (I typically wear clothes sized L-XL)😬 I've wondered about how to use this method for it for a while, ty for showing it.
From a construction point of view, I am confused why you went to the length of creating bust room, if no princess seams were going to be added. It appears the end pattern is flat across the chest (which you can do if you are going for a Tudor-esque type bodice- but you can just tape your blossom very flat in that case). Lack of mentioning seam allowance might trip newbie sewers up. Definitely want to try this concept sometime!
"lift up ya boobs..." made me laugh! I used an adjustrable dressform, I had to adjust and then put a bra over it cuz my boobs are bigger than the dress forms. This seems like it might be an easier way, I wish I could make all my clothes this way, this is brilliant.
From a professional: basically, yes, for this style of bodice. If you make it with at least one layer of a stiff fabric such as coutil, and add some boning, the shape of the bodice can be flat. It will sort of smush your boobs upward, creating some pretty spectacular cleavage!
